Re: General Blue Jays Thread, 2020
Flop deadline for Atkins. At least they got some decent pitchers. Bass is a good get.

We're 12 games out of the divisional lead. We really shouldn't be pushing our chips in, but we needed pitching depth, and we got pitching depth. I'm fine with it.

**** your asterisk.

That’s not a flop though lol. That’s what we needed!
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

Yeah, I'm totally fine with these moves. White is a solid #4/5 guy, which is just what we needed. Yeah, we gave up a decent prospect, but so be it.
It's funny reading the Dodgers and Jays subs. Both fanbases are in shambles somehow.

Nah, Atkins could've went harder.

Well yeah. But At what cost? Would it be worth it to move a guy like Moreno or whoever for a short term move? Or are we better off shoring up the pen, getting another arm that can start, and a little more depth for Groshans and Frasso and change?

Trash deal. Castillo gave us some possible starting depth and may have had some upside. Taylor was also doing better this year. What are they thinking? Other then an OBP south of 300 which fits right in with Bo Bichette and this team. Doesn't even bat left handed.

Re: General Blue Jays Thread, 2020
lol the knives are gonna come out now. Big expectations for Ross this deadline, being pragmatic is a tough sell, though I know it's probably the smart one in an overheated market. We don't have a super deep prospect pool like some of these other teams and I doubt we'd want to trade our big prospects for anything less than a huge return and that wasn't looking likely with Soto going to the Pads.
That being said, I'd be lying if I thought that a returning Bass and other assorted pieces was what I expected when I woke up this morning. Really hard to be too excited by marginal upgrades that may not even pan out.
Merrifield is a good add too. Basically another Chapman. former allstar veteran-type you get a few years past his statistical prime but he can still play.

Any cost is worth it for my enjoyment.

Yeah, the deadline was fine for the Jays, but theres no way you can blame anyone for being underwhelmed.

We've done this before, though. Is your enjoyment this year worth the team being unenjoyable for a prolonged stretch later? Everyone says yes, in the moment. And then 2017 happens and everyone suddenly changes their tune.

**** your asterisk.

Re: General Blue Jays Thread, 2020
We were spoiled by the Tulo/Price deadline followed by crazy winning and bay flips and such.

Re: General Blue Jays Thread, 2020
Bass was a nice get but but why trade Max and Taylor for a player who's likely to get little to no playing time?
