Frasso seems like a quick riser... I'm assuming dodgers asked for 1 of frasso/zulueta. Hopefully, Jays bet on the right arm. Other than that, I'm mostly okay with the trades. Their post season hopes still largely depend on Vlad/Bo getting back to last year's form.

Trading Frasso is the one element I'm deeply uneasy about. Three potential average-or-better pitches, good command, and a very good fallback as a reliever if the breaking ball doesn't mature.

**** your asterisk.

That was my feeling starting a day or two ago - when the Yankees in particular pushed most of their chips in. None of the Jays top prospects moved. Groshans was an obvious candidate to leave. Castillo only emerged recently as a marginal prospect. Taylor has been my unicorn, but he’s been injured for two months now and it’s unlikely he makes the Rule 5 cut. Frasso is the one I am least comfortable with, but they probably bought time with White until Tiedemann is ready. This winter, they will have some big decisions to make on the catching situation, infield prospects, they will have some pretty good chips to go after a bigger acquisition.

Yeah. But Mitchell White is a useful, controllable back of the rotation guy, so they had to give up someone of value.

I'll take Stripling v2 honestly.
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

Absolutely, I'd just have preferred that it wasn't one of our higher-end arms. Unfortunately the Dodgers have an excellent scouting department and very similar predilections to our own braintrust, so they were unlikely to swoon at the thought of Otto Lopez and Hagen Danner or whatever.

Looking at Alex de jesus' numbers, he could be something too. Will probably start at AA next year as a 21 yr old...
If Atkins had managed to get another solid BP arm, this could've turned into an excellent trade deadline.

I don’t know if it says something about the respective farm systems, but MLBPipeline has slotted ADJ in as our #8 prospect, and Frasso as the Dodgers’ #26. It’s just that our list has so many infielders…

On the flip side, the Jays have been extremely good at evaluating their own prospects when making trades. Can anyone name a single prospect they've traded that we've regretted giving up? There was similar panic when they moved Kendall Williams to the Dodgers for Stripling ("Oh no it's the Dodgers! We probably just traded them a future ace!") and Kendall Williams now looks like he'll be lucky to even become Ross Stripling.
They don't really move any of the prospects that they value as difference makers. That's why you see so many trades involving these spare-piece types and guys who they'd have to protect from the Rule 5 draft but don't really have room for (Groshans, Samad Taylor). I'm sure they liked Frasso, but he's also a few months from turning 24 and he's still in High A. He's never pitched more than 60 innings ever...and that goes back to his time in College. He only has 41.2 career innings pitched as a professional.

Phillips: Deadline additions make Jays better, but other contenders got even stronger - Video - TSN.ca
The Blue Jays traded for Whit Merrifield at the deadline, bolstered their bullpen by acquiring Anthony Bass and Zach Pop, and added a starter in Mitch White. TSN MLB Insider Steve Phillips joins SportsCentre to discuss what the new additions will bring to Toronto, and assess how the Jays stack up against other World Series contenders.

Certainly, and if I were to guess, it's that they don't like the progress of his breaking ball...from what I've seen, it's a bit of a mess. But looking at the roster and our current woes, a guy who throws high-'90s with a vicious changeup is someone who'd likely come in handy sooner rather than later. We still have that in Zulueta, but our upper minors 'pen depth has been an issue for some time, and Frasso probably would've moved quickly if shortened up.

Pearson will also be a swing and miss addition in the bullpen.

What do you project Frasso to be at his ceiling? Isn't Mitch White a slightly "less stuff" than Frasso but much more reliable since he's already found success as a SP in the Majors?

I was perplexed looking around for one such thread. The Jays realgm is the bizarro Raptors realgm.

I'm totally fine with it staying in a thread if that's where people are discussing it, or having separate threads, whatever people prefer. But there was a whole thing a while back where no one made threads, and then there was a bunch of complaining that people were prevented from making threads (no one had prevented anyone from making threads).
So I figured I'd mention it in case someone wanted to.

Curious not that it matters, but why we moved Beasley, though he was trash in majors, could been a decent bullpen arm in the minors? Traded him for just cash? Most been 40 man roster crunch?

We don't need a lefty bat. The whole point of having lefties is that they are better against righties. But our righties are exceptionally good against righties; only two teams hit better against RHP.
Perhaps.
Maybe I’m just old fashioned and believe in the theory that having a lefty or two is beneficial from the standpoint that it helps keep the opposing starter from
