Started watching Black Bird last night. I hope the writing improves. Paul Walter Hauser is awesome as usual.
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.

I really liked Nope! My favorite of his so far. Very different from what I expected.

Spoiler:
Worthy addition to the monster hunter genre in the lineage of Jaws and Tremors. Fun, exciting, interesting, gorgeous. Still waiting on Peele's masterpiece but he's a heckuva filmmaker.

BCS
Spoiler:
Too bad they had to recast Jeff.

Trivia

This is the first episode of the series where Jonathan Banks, Rhea Seehorn, Patrick Fabian, and Michael Mando are not credited. In fact, Bob Odenkirk is the only series regular appearing in the credits as well as in the episode.

This also marks only 2nd time, after "Five-O", that Rhea Seehorn was absent from an episode of Better Call Saul.

This episode takes place entirely in Omaha, Nebraska. It's the first episode of either Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul to take place entirely outside of Albuquerque, primary location of both shows.

The opening credits sequence has been changed due to the entire episode occurring in the Gene timeline of the show rather than in the present.

Gene's discussions of University of Nebraska Cornhuskers football with Frank help date the episode, and the overall Gene timeline, to October 2010. Frank mentions Nebraska coach Bo Pelini, the freshman quarterback Taylor Martinez, and specific details about actual historic games. They also mention the upcoming move to join the Big Ten Conference (announced in June 2010 but set to go into effect in 2011) and upcoming renovations to Memorial Stadium (announced on October 8, 2010).

Gene first speaks to Frank on Sunday, October 17, 2010. Frank asks him if he saw the game "last night", where Nebraska lost to Texas (on October 16). He also mentions that next week's game will be an away game against Oklahoma State (October 23, 2010), and the recent injury to Oklahoma State quarterback Brandon Weeden. Subsequent conversations between Gene and Frank suggest at least one additional Nebraska football game, so the earliest possible date for the department store heist would be October 31, though it could be one or two weeks later.

In addition, in one scene when Gene is reading the paper, the event displayed on the Sports page is from October 14, 2010 specifically.

In Season 4 episode "Quite a Ride", Saul asked Francesca Liddy to confirm that she will be in place on November 12 at 3 p.m. to receive a phone call that Jimmy must receive on a specific pay phone.

November 12, 1960 is Jimmy's birthday, which would make him 50 years old in 2010.

Gene mentions Walter White to Jeff while discussing how successful Jeff can be in the criminal lifestyle. He also mentions to Frank that he has a dead brother and dead parents as well as no wife and no kids.

It's revealed that when Gene told Ed Galbraith that he would fix it himself, he intended to help Jeff and his friend commit a crime and then use it to blackmail him into silence through "mutually assured destruction."

At the butcher's stand of the supermarket, Marion is offered a sample of "Extra-sharp Wisconsin cheddar". The package says that this cheese comes from the Schnauz farms, an easter-egg related to Thomas Schnauz.

The episode is the fifth to not use the traditional end credit theme composed by Dave Porter, opting to use another dramatic piece of music to accompany the ending.

If you call the phone number on Gene's Nippy poster (+1 402-342-9288), you'll be met with a minute and ten second long automated message from Gene, listing off information about Nippy to anyone who may had found him. A recording of the entire message can be found here.

When Gene blackmails Jeff and his friend in Jeff's garage, he demands that they both say "we're done". This is a reference to when he tries to cut ties with Walter White in "Live Free or Die" and Walter replies with "We're done when I say we're done".

The Russo Bros can direct action. Some really cool action cinematography in this one. But good god, Joe, let someone else write the script next time.

Thanks to my father and older brother I grew up on a steady diet of science fiction, with Star Trek being neck and neck with Dr Who for the position of my childhood fave. Nichelle Nichols was my first boyhood infatuation with a distant star- as Nyota Uhura she had grace, intelligence, courage under pressure, was obviously beautiful but also delivered a performance that truly conveyed an air of absolute skill and competence in her tasks.

BCS: Gotta love the title of this weeks episode.

Spoiler:
When Saul debuted on BB the episode was titled, "Better Call Saul". So, putting it all together, this means...... Another Gene episode- who knows with these guys, lol.

GREAT show. His calm anger facial expressions are amazing, can just feel the rage. Then it's great when it overflows and he goes nuts.

Poor video quality, but my favorite scene in the series.
Also, i so much agree with Ray's beliefs here.

I watched Woman in Motion last night for free on Peacock, a documentary about her life that came out a couple of years ago. Had no idea she was going to quit after the first season til MLK told her not to and said it was the only show he let his kids watch. Didn't know she recruited 3 out of the 7 astronauts on the Challenger shuttle. Incredible woman. Incredible life.

It falls apart half way through. Seems like they said we have a ton of money, let's make the most ridiculous action set pieces we can. They need to keep their mediocre originals around an hour and a half. Its hard to watch something for over 2 hours knowing it's probably not gonna be great.

I always assumed Riverdale was a show similar to Pretty Little Liars.

Spoiler:
Good to see Cranston and Paul but otherwise it was a decent but not great episode. I guess I expected these last episodes to be fantastic but the last 2 have not been that

Spoiler:
Seeing tons of praise for this episode so definitely looks like I’m in the minority here but the last two episodes have been a bit underwhelming imho. While they have been super well written, shot, acted, etc it kinda lacks the weight/tension I got used to the last couple seasons.

I guess I’m kinda missing Lalo, Gus, Kim, Nacho, Howard, Mike (outside of that one scene), etc. I’m not expecting things to be crazy every minute like The Boys or something but idk, I was kinda expecting a bit more after how electric other episodes this season were, obviously the ones heavily featuring Lalo.

Seeing Walt/Jesse was cool for what it was. Cranston did really well, Aaron Paul did alright I guess but it was kinda distracting how much older/gruff he sounded.

Agree with this sentiment. They’ve been good episodes but nothing amazing. The stakes just don’t feels very high like they did towards the end of BB. It’s still a good show and very much worth watching but it’s not going to hit the same crescendo that BB did. It’s probably bit unfair to expect it would given how brilliant BB was.

A week into getting back into Better Call Saul. So season four was laughably bad.

I mean, if you actually think this, just stop watching, it's not going to get any better.

Season 4 was fantastic in my opinion. Like, really, really good.
