Is Kevin Garnett a top 10 player of all time?

No. Limited as a scorer and limited team success. Amazingly well rounded though and very fun to watch. I would have him around 15-20

Not for me, but I get the argument. As mentioned, his inability to consistently raise his scoring in the playoffs hurts him compared to others.

Emphatic no from me, in terms of both all time ranking and peak play. And that's not even a slight against him, KG's someone who I'd rank top 20 all time, and roughly top 20-25 peak wise. But for whatever reason, this board really seems to overrate him. He frankly has no case resume/accolade wise for top 10 all time, and while peak play is obviously much more subjective, there's no way he's cracking my top 10 in that regard either.

If he were a bit more lucky with his teammates during his prime he'd have a strong case so I don't think it's too farfetched for people who look at players in a vacuum to put him in their top 10 but for me his play-off resume is a bit on the light side for a top 10 placement.

My answer is no, but he's definitely top-15, and I don't know that one can argue he's outside of it.

He's somewhere in the 15-20 range for me. Perhaps a bit higher.

Certainly a player whose individual ability ranks rather highly, because he was very, very good. A dominant defensive presence, an MVP, got himself a ring, anchored an ATG defense in Boston that changed how the game was played under Thibs' defensive guidance, etc.

But his resume is far too lacking compared to his peers in the upper echelon of the game for him to really be in consideration for me. Single MVP, never separated himself from Duncan or Dirk, fairly limited team postseason success prior to joining Boston (outside of a fun season in 04 that was ruined by injuries), etc. That doesn't really matter so much to discussing how good he was, but when you enter a discussion with a bunch of players at a similar overall level of performance, there has to be something setting them apart... and the multiple guys with dramatically more dominant profiles (including some lacking his relatively tepid scoring efficiency and postseason scoring threat)... well, something's gotta give, right?

15-25, maybe, seems around the correct range IMHO.

I think KG is someone who was ridiculously good, and based off of his pure ability and level of play is a top ten player ever, but was in an unfortunate circumstance and honestly just didn’t accomplish enough to be up there.

KG is probably top ten most talented player and a top ten best basketball player ever, but he’s not a top ten greatest player ever. I think it’s not his fault and in different circumstance he could be higher, but it’s unfortunately not what panned out

You could rank him pretty low based on that, I mean he has about as many playoff runs as a lot of guys have chips

I think he is. I get he's a controversial guy (depending on the criteria one has on their GOAT list I could see him lower, around the late teens) but for me he's a top 10 player and a top 5 talent.
