Lebron didn't wait for anything. He was ghosting Pat and Pat wouldn't take the hint.

Pat got the hint soon as the season ended. It's why he gave that triggered cut bait and run speech when the season ended.

The only way we could've moved on was to relinquish our bird rights to LBJ and use his capsace elsewhere. But that way too risky and would've killed any potential sign and trade possibilities. He did us very dirty for no good reason. I was more shocked that he would put his best friend DWade in that position, after DWade gave up his team and sacrificed his legacy for him.

It feels uncomfortable, but I think you're right. In 2 years time, Tyler's contract will be seen as a cost-controlled asset for multiple years in comparison to the pricey free agency market.

Over $25M still has me feeling a bit uneasy, though lol

I feel like the board kept preaching this same message about Duncan about this same time last year.

Hmm I don't think they're remotely comparable. But that is a good way to incite panic.

There should be a healthy amount of panic right now, because Miami loves to overpay their guys early and don't mind biding against themselves either. Any Herro signing in the near future puts Bam on the trade asset hotseat in front of Herro, but it more likely just means we've settled to run it back....which also is a strategy that hasn't worked for a team since Jordan's Bulls.

Don’t get me wrong, my preferred option is for Miami to execute the right type of consolidation trade to get value from Herro in a package, balance out our roster and better lineup with the current timeline.

But in the instance where that trade doesn’t get done, I don’t think re-signing Herro to around $25M per. The salary cap projections and inherent value of locking in young promising talent on rookie extensions in the face of forthcoming cap rises pretty clearly point to it being a wise roster management move

Let him test the market first as a restricted FA and then decide. Paying him $25-30M upfront is a typical Heat move like Duncan, Whiteside, Waiters, etc. Lowry, while old and out of shape was a better defender and playmaker than Herro. A one dimensional player isnt worth $30M a year, even with the upside.

For the record, I like Herro, just not at that price, but fully understand the market and future cap rising. Id hate to cut bait with other players to avoid luxury tax later. When Lowry is on an expiring, maybe we trade his contract for someone else?

We need to trade Kyle Lowry for any useful player we can get for him. Declining, distracted, and unavailable, isn't going to do. We're trying to win a championship.

Ya thats ded. Should've at least gotten in on Kyrie when they were trying to give him away for flipping Westbrook and two protected 1st.

Feeling better about waiting to sell high. The recent memories of Herro sucking in the playoffs are about to go away in a hurry when he starts balling out in a contract year. Utah has no vision whatsoever, Herro would be my number #1 target. He would be such a hit over there.

An in-shape Lowry would do wonders for this team. His playoff injury (likely a result of being out of shape) just might've been the difference between ECF loss and Finals win

Couldn't agree more. A veteran All Star PG that can hit 3's and set up his teammates for easier baskets is what we got him for. I cant forget the way he even made Yurt look good too. He later fell into mediocrity or dare i say suck territory when he had his personal issues and was out of Heat shape.

Also its better to roll with what we have an look to trade Herro and/or Duncan at the deadline when their value likely is higher than now.

His value is at an all time low, it would be better to see if his offseason fitness turns him back into a good player, you know, the one we lost a second rounder for and $30M.

i would support this.like i have said many times he can comeback as another coach, i really have ZERO probs with that but him coming back as a player takes up space from the bench and make s the heat less credible in their championship aspirations.

tim duncan, parker knew when to retire and they were beloved by the fanbase in santonio. haslem should do the same. i dont want people to laugh at his expense either

With the way Lowry is working out I’m fine keeping him at this point unless we’re getting a star. He’s a vet PG and to the eye he played like **** but analytically he was really good last year. Which baffles me and makes me wonder what happens when he actually plays at the level we know he can.

The question is can he do it 1 more time? With us, yea I think He can.

I agree. Riley called him out but it was tough love. Never felt like we were going to trade him considering he came here because of Butler. Also would be a bad look for future free agents if we did Lowry dirty by trading him to a destination he does not approve of.

He’ll be back and he’ll continue to make other players better. We had been PG starved for a very long time so i’m in no hurry to get rid of Lowry unless we get another true PG in return. Hoping we do get a true 4 though.

Haslem never made Duncan and Parker type money either so he’s essentially on the league social security plan since the Heat are only on the hook for 1.7 of the 2.8 he gets for tenure. He’s also not making anywhere near that as a coach. I do agree though it might be time to move on.
