Wonder why Slovenia is so high as well.

Wonder that too.

From what we have see so far, I think Slovenia has the best player in FIBA ball, and that is why it is leading the poll. Serbia is right up there, everyone has the as final contenders.

Jokic not playing?

Now he can go prove he is not the overated crap i have always suspected.
Lets see him getting these mariachis to the semis.

Wow, you sound really sore. I haven't followed his club career that close, but as NT head coach you can't ask for much more. He's been a perfect fit once he sorted out his role midway the 2009 Eurobasket.

I was searching for the thread about Cissoko but couldn't find it. This French team has ridicoulous athleticism, many NBA prospeccts, yet the small Slovenia was victorious. They also came back from a 15 point deficit.
They qualified for the u19 WC, I hope that both Vide and Klavžar will play there.

To me this u18 championship seems to be very weak. I know there are some significant absences but the quality of play is low.

What are your thoughts after seeing Lithuanian team for the first time?

My just one game hot take. Keep Žemaitis, cut Jokubaitis? Just kidding, but man, that Žemaitis kid is good, Jokubaitis looked like trash. Maybe its the gogles, but he still has that Lithuanian handle, he basically does a jab when he dribbles the ball.
Grigonis is still a star, I dont know which old pagan god did he please to become such a good offensive guard coming from LIthuania, I though those were extinct by now.
I know this was Estonia, but Martynas Echodas looked insane, he was amazing. Holly crap. Man, Žalgiris got that stiff Birutis who is slower than a tree and basically a Boban without talent. What will he do in EUroleague, Euroleague is good now, every guard will play that man of the court. Meanwhile Echodas doing his Tim Duncan impressions on National team.

I loved that game, where host team, Turkey, scored a single point in first quarter, that is a way to open a game

I know it will sound insane, but I still find watching these talentless games more entertaining than NBA, NBA pacing has become the worst, they increased the temperature by degree, by degree, and we frogs kept watching and now are cooked alive. The stoppage time in NBA is asinine.

When it comes for them to make up the minds on correct calls, I just do things around the house, one of the good reasons to watch euro league.

The french team should have won easily and they seemed to be going for another easy win, but they started to play very sloppy and Slovenia made some very hard shots to come back and finally win in the end. The french team no doubt had incredible amount of athleticism and talent, but this Slovenia team played harder as a team and deserved to win. Actually, in the round of 16 game vs. Croatia, Slovenia was extremely close to lose, but was gifted the game in the end by Croatia. So in my view Slovenia is extremely lucky to be in a position they are now, dodging two very close bullets to make it to the semis.

The main problem with this french team has been the lack of playmaking. and the main responsible is the nt staff that decided not to bring any good pg except one (that barely played). Instead they stockpiled 3 combo guards (Cissoko/Rupert and Houinsou) just because, you know, they have potential (/read, they could be drafted).

Those prospects (talking about the 12 players) deserved better even if we had much more talent in some nt, but we have beyond terrible coaching staff. Even defensively - and after a time out... - when you go watch this team's defense on last slovenian's offense that ended with their clutch 3.

You can have the best players in the world, if your coaches are beyond horrible, that won't get you very far whatever the competition is.

There are rumours in germany that Nick Weiler-Babb is going to play for the national team at eurobasket.
He would fit right in since SG is the position which lacks the most quality.

Training camps are just starting, so most teas do not have their final 12s announced. Cuts will be made.
