It's time.

In a couple of hours the new season will be upon us.

Don't think I've been this excited since peak Poch Spurs about 5-6 years ago. 1-0 loss to Southampton coming up tomorrow, then?

I hope you guys start well this season, I don't trust Chelsea squad, coaching, weird transfer window right now. For excitement we need a third team chasing Liverpool, City somewhat in the table. Spurs transfers, the mix of the players in the squad look very good, specially midfield, forwards.

It can take a while to bed in so many new signings, so I don't expect Spurs to come flying out of the gates dominating teams. A steady progression like the latter half of last season would be fine. Spurs struggle against the dogged defensive teams that can grind out wins and give up no space, that's the most important obstacle to Spurs' progression right now.

I think Chelsea will be fine. Arsenal have improved too, and I really like the Scamacca signing for West Ham. United I'm not too worried about, but they have a great coach now so who knows? Leicester will be better if they can stay healthy despite the lack of signings. Newcastle were one of the best teams in the league in the latter half of the season, Villa should be better too. It's all exciting to me.

I was thinking more like top 4, Chelsea fell apart last season with the defence they relied on, they haven't improved that much as a team.
5-7 positions is a bit more thriling competition, West Ham was good last season, Arsenal you never know, can any coach succeed with Man utd? Yeah it was surprising how Newcastle was top 2-3 team second half of the season without buying a lot of players in January transfer window.

Spurs must avoid a slow start if they want to be in touch, be around top 3, being good the last month or two is not enough if Conte wants to even see the back of City,Pool. Will be good to see which team of top 6 is the most of the prepared.

Early goal but this is the kind of game Arsenal squandered last season after a lead.

Will things be different this season?

How the heck did they not score there...

Some save by Ramsdale to close the gap

Ramsdale is a good shot stopper but at times I do feel like he’d cost Arsenal a few points he can be a bit rash

No quality in the final third for Palace and conceded two terrible goals.

Arsenal started out strong but have been quite fortunate since then.

I thought they looked the better team by far after the first 20 minutes until the 84th. Definitely a draw deserved.

Agreed, I was just being reactionary at that point. Arsenal didn't really do much in that game but came away with the win.

One positive for Arsenal is that Saliba looked very strong. You have to think their fullbacks will get exposed against a better attack though, even Jordan Ayew was getting the better of Zinchenko at times.

This is what I meant when I said why the hell pay 30 mil. for a guy like Zinchenko. He is far from world class.

30 mil isnt world class, world class cost 70-100 million these days, the crazy money. That is what Trent,Cancelo,Robertson would cost. I missed the game but good for Arsenal fans if they can win without being impressive.

I think that Arsenal - as with many teams these days - got Zinchencko for his attacking prowess. It's the same on the other side with Saka - he's probably one of the best young attacking talents that England has and Arteta is playing him as a WB. His speed will occassionally cover over defensive inability but Arsenal are going to pay for their attacking set-up. In turn this will put great pressure on Davies and Saliba which may make them crumble over time. Partey and xhaka will need to step up as cover.

Not many fullbacks these days are actually good at defending. Some of them are former wingers turned into fullbacks, the way football is played thanks to Liverpool and City (more of the former) make their fullbacks essentially play as wingers and their central midfielders cover their positions in attack.

Jesus was pretty good, the way he dribbled over like 3 defenders in a box was insane. Always knew he can be very good, we will see how he does with a real opportunity.

Liverpool looks awful, wow. Nunez must sub for a second half. Salah was invisible.

Funny we have been talking about full backs and defending, a world class RB like Trent got bullied by Mitrovic for their goal lol
