It's a little more difficult to win all that playing for Slovenia with only 2 mio population. ;)

I was just reading somewhere that the US have 2 mio people in jail LOL
Crazy perspective of how small Slovenia really is

It's the size of Peloponnese, with a similar amount of mountains but almost no coastline :D

Must be difficult to develop a lot of good basketball players in countries where football is so dominant, like Germany, France, Spain, Italy.

Best athletes choose football or are snapped up into football academies before they're even 10.

So basketball developmental coaches pick over the rest or boys destined to be over 6-5 get diverted into basketball programs?

Anyone know why Teo was cut? Seems Avramovic is out with injury while Smailagic also seems to be out.

That team had some clutch shooters.

Yea Doncic has a great shot at doing that especially with Jokic not participating, who in theory would have the best squad around him to win medals consistently.

It's a pity Dirk had incredibly weak supporting casts on those national teams. Even beat Spain in 2005 and won MVP despite losing in the final.

you forgot to add beat gasol-less spain in 05 :P

Ok, caught only the final quarter, but Giannis is serious this time. Played as center, and he really is kinda like modern Wilt Chamberlain, in a sense, just lob a ball near the basket to him and its basically a score, man is a monster. Good to see his NBA dominance translated to FIBA even if its only a one friendly against weak Spanish team. ANd speaking about Spain, I legit couldn't recognize half of their team, wow, what a transition from a generation that won 2 world cups and were in few Olympic finals.

Not exactly you can become a pro at 15, meaning there's plenty of kids who play basketball, Germany has over 80 million people France over 60 million and Italy over 59 million, case being even if 1/3 are kids of those countries that's a lot of kids that play basketball.

Too bad DR doesn't play in Eurobasket, of course. Giannis could get the opportunity to go at Horford again if they did.

Yeah it's funny how people kept saying "in FIBA Giannis would be called for travelling and pushing off and running into people"
Turns out, he isn't.

Micic is their best PG now without question, and its not out of the question thatn Nedovic is better at this point. So that leaves Teo as third stringer, of course you can play Teo and those other two together, where Nedovic and Micic play more as scorers, Teo seems to me that he still could have had a role on a team, but I wouldn't be surprised that he was not pleased with small role, so they parted ways. Or maybe coach really wanted someone who plays defense, and Teo couldn't play any when he was 25 and he is 35 now.

It's quite surprising to see how little lateral movement he has, i don't think he deserved to be cut, every time they called him to play he has shown up.

Yes, he played for National team in like 10 summers. If I invited him to camp, I wouldn't have guts to cut him. dont invite him at all, or make sure he has a spot on a team. But as I said, wouldn't be surprised that Teo wasnt happy with his role and maybe (friendly) decided its not worth it.

Yeah, sounds likely, just unfortunately. Didn't think Pesic would do him like that considering his service but Teo hasn't always been a model pro from what I remember. Perhaps they mutually agreed it would be better he parts ways considering the reduced role he would have had - but somehow I doubt it.

Who do you guys think makes the team?
