I keep trying to get into Letterkenny but every time it just feels like a more watered-down, less funny version of Trailer Park Boys. Maybe that's unfair because of the Canadian angle, because it seems like they're going for a bit more of an "Always Sunny" vibe but I just don't think it works, and while I get that it's probably an intentional choice to make Wayne's accent so cartoonish, I just find it distracting and annoying more so than funny.

I can see how Letterkenny doesn't work for everyone, even people who generally like this type of dumb dude comedy. Things like the long word play/pun type things that can go on, playing into some canadian tropes/stereotypes a bit much, I'd probably say Dan's character is too cartoonish moreso than Wayne but same idea, some of the bit characters are bit over the top. I get it.

But, Shoresy really doesn't really have those problems (french speaking announcers for like one episode maybe was too much). It's really not even tied to Letterkenney all that much other than the character name/persona. Basically it's just a hilarious hockey show. It's really good and could easily stand alone from LK, one doesn't need to have watched LK to watch Shoresy.

Oh I'll absolutely give Shoresy a shot. I think sports comedies always have much more potential for me given the intersection of two of my favorite things.

I feel like with these dumb over the top mockumentary type shows it's super personal preference. Some will just strike a funny cord and others will fall flat.

Like I really enjoyed Letterkenny and shorsey but what we do in the shadows didn't do it for me. No good reasononing why, I know lots of peeps love shadows.

Spoiler:
it's awesome that in the Breaking Bad/BCS universe it's Carol Burnett who takes down Jimmy (yeah anything can happen in the last episode but I enjoyed it nevertheless)
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Spoiler:
great episode...The cancer patient had $737k in his account. In breaking bad, Walt said he needed $737k for his treatment. Gilligan is on another level with these call backs in writing

Spoiler:
Way better Jesse cameo in this one, felt a lot more like early BB Jesse. Just a great scene altogether with him and Kim, two deuteragonists at wildly different points of a similar path (in some ways). Kim close to broken and trying to leave that world, Jesse just now entering it and still full of life.

Spoiler:
there was a live aftershow last night that was pretty good. Gilligan, Gould, Odenkirk and Seehorn. Some interesting insights and stories. Whenever they talked about a scene he wasn't in Odenkirk just sat there. He said he never watches the show so he didn't really know what they were talking about. If AMC reruns it or it's available on streaming it's worth the 45 minutes. Also had some interviews with other cast members.

I'm very late to The Last Kingdom but watched the first 2 episodes. Really good. It moves fast, hard to keep everyone straight.

Just watched Obi Wan, which I enjoyed. Decided to kind of start at the beginning with the whole time line.

Halfway through Attack of the Clones. Holy God are these movies awful. The writing, the acting, good lord.

I remember trying soooooo hard to like them when they came out. Thought maybe a rewatch would help.

Nope. Hot garbage.

Started it twice. Made through half of season 3 the first time and a couple episodes into season 2 a month ago.

Season 1 is great. After that......not for me.

Hope you enjoy it though!

Aside from McGregor being an amazing Obi-Wan, that show was a steaming pile of diarrhea. I couldn't make it through it was so bad. The chase scenes with baby Leia, she might as well be Usain Bolt. The cringe acting. Holy cow.

You'll get there. Lots of Aethel-this, Aethel-that, etc. It becomes easy to follow. It is an absolutely phenomenal show, could not recommend it enough. They are making a movie to fully wrap things up as well.

Well I'd say we have 2 differing opinions

Yea I really liked Last Kingdom. I get the complaint on there being a lot of characters, some who look alike and some with similar names. Plus at times tough to keep the regions/factions straight (also crazy some of these regional arguing still exists today there). But I didn't find it overly hard to follow, maybe with an occasional double check to make sure. But if you're into the general medieval type stuff with tons of gratuitous violence it should fill the void. Some of game of thrones aspects but without the fantasy elements. Also loosely based on best guesses on historical stuff from those days, which is interesting to some.

It's also not a ton of episodes so it's not a massive commitment. I did Vikings recently too and that was too much, dragged on a ton, while also having some of the same issues described above (plus some others).

So it seems.

The Bucks connection tips things in my favor, IMO.

I don't think it's bad or anything. I just lost interest.

Please just tell me you didn't think Star Wars 1-3 were good.

I'm ridiculously excited for Cornwell's (The Last Kingdom author) The Warlord Chronicles to appear on TV. Sounds like it'll finally see production started this year, three seasons, one per novel. I've only been waiting for this show for about 25 years.
