Please just tell me you didn't think Star Wars 1-3 were good.

They are not good. Phantom Menace does hold some nostalgic value, though. I was the perfect age for it and didn't know better.

I don't think it's bad or anything. I just lost interest.

I feel we align more often than not on TV, I say give it another shot!

BCS is a master class in filmmaking. I'm gonna miss it.
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.

Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

DingleJerry wrote:Yea I really liked Last Kingdom. I get the complaint on there being a lot of characters, some who look alike and some with similar names. Plus at times tough to keep the regions/factions straight (also crazy some of these regional arguing still exists today there). But I didn't find it overly hard to follow, maybe with an occasional double check to make sure. But if you're into the general medieval type stuff with tons of gratuitous violence it should fill the void. Some of game of thrones aspects but without the fantasy elements. Also loosely based on best guesses on historical stuff from those days, which is interesting to some.

It's also not a ton of episodes so it's not a massive commitment. I did Vikings recently too and that was too much, dragged on a ton, while also having some of the same issues described above (plus some others).
The middle seasons of Vikings when it's full stoned and incoherent Ragnar were not good at all. Thought they did a decent job wrapping it up though.

I liked the first season of the new Vikings show on Netflix. It features Harald Hardrada who had a really interesting real life having spent time in east with the Rus and then time with the byzantine empire. If they do it right it should be a good story.

BCS

Spoiler:
Just rewatched better call saul...there was a very obvious shot of Alaskan airlines with Saul under it......Jesse lives in Alaska now after el Camino. Maybe leaving a cliffhanger for a spinoff series to happen if Jesse somehow rescues Saul to Alaska?
Why should you go to jail for a crime someone else noticed? You don't need double talk... You need Bob Loblaw.

it's awesome that in the Breaking Bad/BCS universe it's Carol Burnett who takes down Jimmy (yeah anything can happen in the last episode but I enjoyed it nevertheless)

Spoiler:
Especially since Jimmy got his start as a lawyer defending the elderly. I doubt that's a coincidence for the writers.

Much better episodes recently. JImmy's gonna get his, as it should be. He really is an ass hole and deserves it.

You'll get there. Lots of Aethel-this, Aethel-that, etc. It becomes easy to follow. It is an absolutely phenomenal show, could not recommend it enough. They are making a movie to fully wrap things up as well.

That's the nice thing about being able to binge the whole thing, I don't have to wait a year between seasons and it's easier to remember characters and plots.

I am probably getting old and curmudgeonly, but I didn't like it. Probably chuckled three times. I found Pitt's schtick of sensitive softy in a hitman annoying. The "twins" with the thomas the train didn't do it for me either. Ah well.

This has a legit chance to be the best 30 for 30 of all time.

Once Brothers and Two Escobars will be really, really tough to beat.

Yeah, I thought I implied that there are some really good ones and thus it would have to be really good, and has the potential to be.

I was really moved by "Once Brothers." "Two Escobars" is wild, if they would have put some of that stuff in "Narcos" the audience would have found it over the top and fictionalized (sending your hitmen out to kill a ref). The Rick Flair one was good, but is sad, sad in the way a man pretended to be something for so long he became it. The Vick one is long but really good. I'm sure I'm overlooking some really good ones. The Buster Douglas one for me, is where the medium/format is optimized (an in depth look at something we all knew was significant, but maybe didn't know the whole story... then over time, it came to represent more than we realized in the moment). 30 for 30 is best when it hits that line between "we are just talking about a sports thing" and "of course, this is bigger than sports" without overtly getting in to the second category.

The soccer series 30 for 30 on the Hillsborough disaster shook me up. I openly wept watching it. Incredible stuff.

When I first started Letterkenny I loved it then it waned a bit, now I like it again. But I almost like Shoresy more. It kills me every time he does the interrupting "Huh?" The lingo/dialect they come up with in those shows are next level.

Oh ****@!! I didn't know they were picked up for TV. Who is doing it? I think the Arthur/Derfel books may be better than Saxon Stories but it's close.

Yeah, this was definitely a show I needed to go back and recap before starting a new season to reset all the characters. It's also easily one of my favorite shows I've watched in the last handful of years. I'd like to imagine this is what Vikings would have looked like had they not made certain storyline decisions.

They're unknowns to me, but they've worked on stuff I've heard of.

I'm already dreaming of casting possibilities.

there was a live aftershow last night that was pretty good. Gilligan, Gould, Odenkirk and Seehorn. Some interesting insights and stories. Whenever they talked about a scene he wasn't in Odenkirk just sat there. He said he never watches the show so he didn't really know what they were talking about. If AMC reruns it or it's available on streaming it's worth the 45 minutes. Also had some interviews with other cast members.

Does that seem bizarre to anyone else?? Between BB and BCS, some of the biggest TV shows ever, that you star in, and you don't watch?? Weird.

ALSO, I wouldn't have wanted to be Vince Gilligan or Peter Gould trying to come up with a series finale for BCS. Talk about pressure. Basically a series finale for both BCS and BB. Yeeesh.

I also find it really weird when actors don't actually watch their performances.

I wonder how common that is
Spoiler:
they were talking about Saul's call to Kim in Florida and Odenkirk said "they hadn't seen each other in a year and a half". Gilligan said "6 years". Odenkirk said "oh, well I don't watch the show"

I never watched any of the Lord of the Rings movies, never read the books. I'm debating whether to watch Rings of Power.
