Looks kind of lonely in here. I noticed a thread with 4 pages and thought "well that's good" and then looked at the last 20 posts. I've tried to build traffic in forums before. It's not easy.

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2941026-fanbo-zeng-reportedly-decommits-from-gonzaga-will-join-g-league-ignite

Zeng's taken a weird path, a member of the Beijing Duck's ball club, he was sent to play sophomore year of highschool in Windemere Prep, where he was ranked as a 4 star recruit, then he was stuck last year in China. He was recruited by Gonzaga originally but then decommited and decided to play for Ignite it seems, there's also some dispute between him and the Ducks in that they wanted him to play 2022 in the CBA first, ultimately they settled and he's playing next year on Ignite and will play for Beijing if he doesn't sign with a NBA team after next year.

(his Sophomore tape in Florida)

(A few recent domestic U19 games in China, all the players are basically CBA team's youth club players, so decent chance many end up as CBA players eventually.)

Anyway, a general scouting report is that he's a bouncy 6'8~6'9 lefty forward, from what I can tell he's a pretty damn good shooter with a quick release with a pretty versatile shot profile, pretty consistently high 80 to low 90% FT% guy, jumps pretty well off one foot and two foot but usually more impressive of a 2 feet jumper, he gets a lot of put backs / offensive rebounds and off ball blocks. pretty good feel, last year in China the handle seem to have gotten a lot better

General problem is that he's pretty thin, and probably more of a north south guy (i.e not great at sliding ) as he is a bit more upright of a player. and ok wingspan at best, so it seems that he's a straight 4 if things work out, the defense is a problem despite being a pretty great chase down blocker.

Who knows, maybe he's the new Kai Sotto, but I do think his skill set is very easy to fit into almost any rotation which should help a lot.

Yeah. It's been tough. Gotta get the word out to Members somehow.

It doesn't help that the board is buried in the back end when you just click on the basketball section. should at least move into the front section next to NCAA boards?

I used to put in my sig with link...not sure it helped. But tough with G league since it runs concurrently to regular season.

Maybe also put a link in the NBA draft forum, or a thread in there that solely discusses G league players and often you can move it with shadow topic from there which immediately brings people over if they post in the thread from there.

Anyway, I wrote up a more full early scouting report on Fanbo Zeng

Ignite just announced a 12 game schedule. I would like to see the Ignite play at least 20 games and 25 games maximum. I also want to see the Ignite team play in bigger markets to attract bigger crowds perhaps -- if the Ignite system wants to be successful it has to be more appealing to the high level HS hooper outside of just money. Playing in New York, LA, Chicago, San Francisco, Miami or wherever a big city is helpful tool to lure them in even more.

The G league season doesn't even start until December 27 so this might as well be an very extended pre season schedule no? I'm sure they're not going to just lock these kids up for 6 months after that just doing individual training

They played a bunch of games last year at the Michelob Ultra Arena at Mandalay Bay where the WNBA Las Vegas Aces play. Now it’s official in Henderson, new logo, I don’t mind the G League Ignite name but hope the radio and video broadcast mentions Las Vegas/Henderson more often.
