An early Eurobasket thread
Luka with Slovenia
Frank with France
Latvia didn't make it, so Bertans wont be there, and Maxi apparently won't play (maybe resting for his contract year).
France should be favorites, followed by Serbia and then Slovenia, maybe Slovenian posters can comment if Goran is also playing.
Here is the schedule
https://www.fiba.basketball/eurobasket/2022/games
1st game is September 1st, 10:15 AM central time.

Goran is not sure, if he's playing or not. He has some personal things to resolve in Miami and then he will decide.

And that's winning 3 from the player, whom Mavs couldn't promise playing time. He was the best scorer for Slovenia with 28 points.

Why wasn't Luka on the floor?

Why wasn't Luka on the floor?
Because it was decided that he doesn't play in second part of Q4. Slovenia was comfortably leading and Turkey made comeback in last minute and forced overtime. Luka was already checked out, so he didn't play overtime too.

Re: An early Eurobasket thread
Mavs not signing Dragic was a huge mistake in my opinion. He has great leadership skills and still has game left in his legs. Now the team is stuck with only 1 other shot creater who probably shouldn't even be starting anyway.
Was a great game though, Turkish team took it incredibly serious and refs made sure to make everything possible to gift them the game. Luckily Dragic put them away at the end.

The Dragic fiasco is inexplicable for me.

I think so. The Mavs get fooled by Brunson by the time. Therefore, they don't guarantee Dragic playing time. I think it's a huge mistake as well. Luka does slim down a lot. But unfortunately, it doesn't make things better defensively any soon. In Turkey game, it's a bare OT win with Sengun, Osman and Korkmaz on at least 20 point on effective shooting. Luka is supposed to defend at least one of them, I believe. I think Luka has to focus on staying in front of the offensive player first to improve the defense. Stretching the fingers against perimeter shooting is the other goal. Let Korkmaz get 33 is insane. Korkmas is not even in regular rotation for Philly.

I haven't watched the game, but the comments say it jad some really biased officiating.

Well, Brunson wanted to stay with Mavs. He spoke on several podcasts how his dad said to him that he will be a Maverick for life but Cuban and entire FO dropped the ball and gambled on him. Eventually business side took over and Brunson probably said "I have enough of this ****" and went to the Knicks.
As for the game. Turkey took the game incredibly serious, they played like it's Eurocup finals or something and Slovenia just got all their best guys back and our coach was still experimenting with some weird lineups. Doncic played at the start of the 4th Q and then he sat for the reminder of the game, including OT. Refs were also Turkish and missed many easy calls. I can tell you from memory exact plays where they costed our team at least 6 points.
Luka also just got back from vacation 3 days ago and wasn't even trying. He also looks the same to me as he did in the playoffs, i have no clue why people say he slimmed down lol...
If you want to take anything away from this game, don't.. it was just a friendly.

It was friendly. Luka didn't play last 10 minutes and Turkey got 50 FTs, 22 more than Slovenia.

Would be awesome if that skyhook becomes a thing for him. Would make his slow PnR and post game much more deadly.
