This might not be worth a lot right now, I just rewatched a lot of the GSW WCF series and noticed Doncic shouting at Kleber and Brunson a lot. Mostly Kleber forgetting where to stand and where to run. Hopefully Christian Wood fixes some of this as he can also handle the ball on some possessions. Obviously handles not as good as a guard, but way better than Powell and Kleber's dribbling skills.

Coming off the bench won't happen unless he's failed us and we've given up on him. He won't ever be happy coming off a bench since he's waiting for his next big extension. If anything he's looking at us as an opportunity.

he definitely needs to start. His 3 point % gives us a weapon we need to use.

Yes, but I don't hate the decision at this point. If Wood wants to stay, prove the defensive prowress first. This is very true. Getting big contract is Wood's interest. But getting two way contributor is Mavs interests. And actually, McGee-DFS-Bullock-Luka-Dinwiddle is a hell of upgrade from last season starting lineup. The return of Hardaway with Wood and revitalized Kleber definitely can help the 2nd unit. And Green and Ntilikina needs to be show cased too. I can see Powell and Bertans deep in the bench without much playing time. If the Mavs can somewhat trade Maxi for Caruso, then the Mavs could somewhat get either Turner or Bamba at some point. That's a complete team. If Wood can defend and prove compatible to the team, Wood will be easy choice. But by now, Wood has something to prove.

In crunch time Woods has to be in there and starting don't mean **** it is all about who plays in the last minutes of a game.

McGee wont play too many time anyway, likely less than 20 minutes, Hence Wood will still get majority of the minutes in the PF/C position. What he needs to do is to prove everyone that he can contribute in the defensive end.

That's what Kidd challenged him to do according to Wood's interview.

Christian Wood is schooled by former Rockets player Mobley, 47, in a pickup game. The worst is yet to come for fans.

For anything good he does it equals out for how bad he is too. He will want a big extension so he better prove himself.

When you add in Woods rebounding contribution the defense is sure to be much more effective and you have a much more complete player than what we had in Powell and others so we have a clear upgrade that should work better next to McGee in crunch time and as a small ball 5 that can hit 3's and score much better he is one of the best if not the best small ball 5 in the league. I would want to work on developing another big with the last roster spot since McGee is older and the mavs will likely want to play him more minutes than he played last year so he may be a health risk at his age. Cousins and Whiteside will probably be vet min guys we can add. Cousins can hit 3's well and is younger so he would give us a more useful big for how we try to play and use our 5's.

If we keep Hardy on the main roster then Dorsey is our only 2 way contract making that second 2 way available to use on picking up a guy from a team cutting a younger big that we might rather have instead of Bingham Jr..

This sets the team up to make moves with our expiring bigs and if some team has an interest then Bertans may be something we can trade as well.

Powell is the one we need to trade off if possible so we can improve the team and bundle in another asset or 3 to increase what we can take back.

6-10 or larger Wood outshot everyone in the league on catch and shoot 3's except one player who is pure garbage on defense.

I'm very surprise by his start, i knew he can score a lot but those 2 games were amazing.

Good ballhandling and Speed for the size, only few bigs can guard him in 1vs1 on the perimeter.
But i was surprise by his passing skills. Amazing.
On the defensive end he is not so bad, athtletic with long arms. Good rebounder.

By now it looks like Lebron/AD is just a much worse version of Luka/Wood. And its not even close

Ok, it's early and it's a small simple size (btw Phoenix and Memphis are PO teams) but...

Bring back Boban, he deserves better than the mess at Houston.

Obviously he's thinking about it, but he's saying the right thing here :D

But i still think Kidd is somewhat holding him back, it feels like his potential is way higher than what Mavs are doing with him. Or maybe they're using him perfectly, dunno...
