I’ve never read or watched any Harry Potter.

I think we both need to stay the course, at this point.

The LOTR trilogy are some of my favorite movies of all time but I didn't think the show coming out looked very good. Maybe I'll check it out, but the super acclaimed trilogy seems the safest place to start.

I really enjoyed it, they did an excellent job of recreating the comic- the number of times I was struck with thinking "I know this scene/pose/lighting/angle" was pretty remarkable.

We're big Sandman fans around here, we have the majority of the initial comics and then 2 different complete collections of them bundled together. We actually listed them as their own items on our house and contents insurance!

Got high and started Outer Range. Highly recommended so far. 3 episodes in. Starting to become a wild ride.

I have no idea how far this has gone as knowledge around the world, but the guy who voices Bluey's dad is the singer in a beloved Australian band named Custard. His name is Dave, he's the loveliest guy- he moved to Sydney a lifetime ago and lived not far from where I was living at the time, I kept bumping into him at gigs (at least once a week for a while there). I'm certain the first time we met he mistook me for someone else, and then was good enough to morph that into genuine excitement each time we ran into each other.

This my favourite Custard song, I love that they thought a homemade film clip was a great idea and couldn't decide which take to use so just released multiple versions. The cardboard cutout is the titular Matthew from the song.

I liked it initially but liked it less with each episode

Watch the 70s animated version of the Hobbit, it’s also a fun read. The lord of the rings books are rough sledding as you get dragged down into Frodo’s emotional struggle. Being able to put the book down and walk away for a while is the only way to get thru them. The movie you have to emotionally detach yourself to get thru. They are visually amazing and you reminisce over your favorite parts of the books but overall pretty empty. The Hobbit being broken into two movies kills the fast pace fun of the book and the only emotional attachment is a love story they added that wasn’t even in the book lol.

This was the weakest season of For All Mankind but it was still entertaining and they nailed the landing with the final two episodes.

I agree it was a great watch.

A few criticisms:

The animal CGI was goofy.

Tying a rope on a throwing hatchet makes no sense and didn’t even play a significant part in the movie. Just make her good at throwing hatchets and she is a legit threat.

I might be in the minority of wanting the whole thing to have been in commanche and french with subtitles. There was not much dialogue anyway, and it wasnt exactly Shakespeare plot wise to follow.

Just read that you can change the audio track to be in Comanche with english subtitles. Probably looks wierd since the actors are speaking in english but Comanche being available is cool.

Episode 4 hurt my brain. So many damn layers I couldn't process it! Fielder is insane.

It's been out for like a month now but the new Iron Chef on Netflix was such a delight.

The Rehearsal got me going back and watching Nathan for You, and my favorite part of watching it might be the juxtaposition between me laughing hysterically at every awkward interaction he has (basically the entire show), and my girlfriend staring blankly at the TV screen. His comedy is such an acquired taste, and I can't even blame some people for not understanding it or finding it as hilarious as I do...

I very much hate awkwardness in comedy. I don't watch reality TV for the same reason. I absolutely hate watching trainwrecks. So yea, couldn't get through an episode of The Rehearsal. Just not for me.

The genius of Fielder is while he acts like a clueless, nervous, Canadian, weirdo he is actually 3 steps ahead of everyone.

I think his main goal is to make us chuckle awkwardly, while subtly coming to a larger point. But also he uncovers unexpected reactions and quirks in people and then showcases that. A great example is the gas rebate episode of Nathan for You. He clearly set out to make a commentary on how rebates and corporate rewards and fine print manipulate consumers. But then as he camps with the people overnight, he finds them so interesting, he sort of shapes the episode around them.

Also, I can totally understand why many don’t find it funny or compelling. One of my kids thinks its hilarious, everyone else in my house thinks its bizarre and pointless.

We watched episode 1 of The Rehearsal.

My wife: If you want to watch this on your own that's fine
Me: Can't talk....laughing.
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.

Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

My wife can't stand Nathan's lips, for some reason. It's not the uncomfortable cringe comedy, it's the lips. Pretty sure he lives in my neighborhood, I have seen him several times and always have to refrain from fanboying him.

Watched the first couple episodes of Paper Girls on Prime and enjoyed them. Hope it can survive the superficial similarities to Stranger Things.
