This makes me very happy.
I like this signing. Raw but high upside. IMO he's a better prospect than Todd, Carey, or Nzosa.

I like it. His high school game was proto-unicorn. We need a back-up for what Porzingis does well. If Makur can develop, then good. He's smooth and highly talented, my question on him was lateral mobility on D, and health. It would be useful to have our G team able to run the same sets that players would use if they were called up to the varsity team.

Came in to hate, but I'm not gonna lie...this signing ain't bad. I watched his highlights, and the skillset is there. So good signing. It probably won't turn into anything, but it;s a low-risk high reward type of signing.

Good pick up. Nothing to lose. His stats in the Australian league were decent last year- and he played for the league champions. This is from NBA Scouting Live:

If they had their eye on him, why also draft Yannick Nzosa, stockpiling Center prospects?

I'd say there's about a 5% chance either of those guys ever play in the NBA.
Which means there's a quarter of one percent chance they both do.
& if they both turned out well, that would be fantastic.

Sucks for Howard U. - he was their first and only blue-chip recruit.

Cool name, in the lines of God Shamgodd (another Wiz signed guy at one point) though not as extreme.

It’s closer to Boutros Boutros, who did not play for the wizards.

This is surprising coming from you, PIF, given that you’re such an advocate for having and using second round picks…like Maker and Nzosa are in essence.
Are you suggesting that the typical second round pick has a 5% chance of playing in the NBA?

Re: Wiz sign Makur Maker to Exhibit 10 Contract
You're right, Zards -- I was probably too extreme. Although, even a 5% chance of playing in the NBA is a h#ll of a good basketball player!
In the case of Maker, I'm probably being influenced by the fact that Thon seemed really promising, was picked in the lottery (one of those #10 picks we were carrying on about a month or so ago) & didn't anywhere near make it to an NBA career.
OTOH, in the case of Nzosa, I continue to be disconcerted that we didn't pick one of the seemingly promising guys like Keon Ellis or Trevion. Then again, , no other team picked either of them! So maybe we were a bit over-enthusiastic.
In all, yeah, I take it back -- let's take a look at both these guys! Maybe they will be contributors.

They're cousins.
Thon's younger brother is Matur Maker. He has another brother named Maker Maker.
