If you were Jaylen Brown..
This is a what are you thinking if you were Jaylen Brown situation..
You just showed the world that when Tatum got shut down in the finals, how you carried the Celtics in all those games, and now the franchise is thinking of trading you for a Kevin Durant.
How do you react, no matter how much of a pro you can pretend to be, you are still human and this would sting a bit. How do you think you will perform if the trade does not go through. As a Raptor fan I know what this feels like a bit, we had Tracy and Vince in their prime and TMac thought he could get out of VCs shadow and do his own thing and yes he was right..But..Raptor fans still think back to and wonder what if..TMac signed back with the Raptors..could they have won it all.. I think this is exactly what Brown and Tatum will go through soon. Jaylen may want to do his own thing buy never win a championship while doing so. What would you do, how would you perform knowing the franchise is thinking of trading him?

In two seasons, he will be able to do what he wants. I suspect he tries real hard this season to make All NBA, so he does not have to test the free agent process at all.

Re: If you were Jaylen Brown..
Interesting you bring up Tmac because I believe Tracey and Jaylen have a relationship and has Mcgrady not mentioned he regrets leaving VC? So it is conceivable that they've discussed the parallels in their careers.
My gut feeling is JB wants to stay, especially with how close the Celtics might be to finally cracking through and winning a title. But I won't deny that being offered up in trades is going to be a big hurdle for the Celtics if JB feels disrespected, they got to hope that their leadership and core guys are capable of addressing it so it doesn't hang over the season.

Well he's still under contract so I'm sure any ill feelings he has will be shoved down until his contract is over. I'm sure he feels some type of way about the Celtics shopping him but he can't let them affect his game when his team just went to the Finals and are one of the favorites to win the East next year.

Re: If you were Jaylen Brown..
I'd know that while I'm a very good NBA player, if I'm going to even remotely contend there needs to be several other very good players as well, so I don't worry that I'm not getting all the attention on the Celtics.
I'd prefer to stay with Boston for the next two seasons as that's my best chance to win a title (Boston's also the only team that could even possibly give me a 35% 'supermax' 3rd deal).
I wouldn't sign an extension, I'd play out to becoming a FA in 2024. There's a slight injury risk but I'm good enough that even if a miss a season I'll get paid. I can get more money that way, and I can also look around and see what the best situation for me going forward is (a lot can change in the league in two season).

If I were JB, I would feel VERY fortunate that I get paid $30 million to play basketball. Also, I would be working on my handles.
But, they are human beings who have feelings, and many of these athletes have been so pampered throughout life that they don't have a normal sense of self-awareness. Of course, he might feel "hurt" that his name has come up, but MANY HoF players have been traded and almost every player has had their name in the rumors, so it's part of the job.

Re: If you were Jaylen Brown..
He's signing a supermax when he's eligible so it's just a matter of if Boston is willing to pay, if not I'm sure he's fine to be featured on another team

Re: If you were Jaylen Brown..
Honestly if the alternative is that I’ll be a leading scorer on a Brooklyn team featuring Ben Simmons, Kyrie Irving (or whatever they get for him) and very good depth plus I still make all my money: yeah I’m good. With the culture change and owners willingness to spend, he can get to the same level of contention with the Nets within a year. People will want to play there after the culture and management improves.
If I know that even Michael Jordan was in some trade rumors, then it’s fine to be in trade rumors.
I’m sure it’s annoying to not know what will happen but all the outcomes are great for him. Nothing better he can do than meditate when the noise is too much and spend plenty of time in the gym working on his craft.

I would learn to dribble a basketball and play some defense.

I’m glad the consensus on JB on the GB has changed. When he signed his contract he was viewed as an overpaid Buddy Heild
156-1 Celtics are frauds when pressure is put on them. They would have been toast if Luka was not stupid enough to foul himself out. Enjoy this ONE finals win. There will never be another with the Js and the Celtics cant afford stacked team.
Re: If you were Jaylen Brown..
hes been in trade rumors for quite a while, but he is always in trade rumors for best players in the league basically, so I would try to find comfort in that, that I have big value around the league.

Without looking up any stats on it I’d assume that Jaylen is an above average defender, but willing to listen to anyone who has evidence contrary to this.

He's pretty underwhelming.
Here's Jaylen's last 4 seasons compared to starting wings.

Re: If you were Jaylen Brown..
Of course he wants to stay in Boston right now because the alternative is only Brooklyn without KD.
But I'll say it....Jaylen Brown will definitely test the free agent market. I would.
Brown should get max money in 2 years and have 2-3 choices of where to play in addition to Boston.
I highly doubt he gives up the right to see what's out there for himself. And I don't think he forgets Ainge really lowballing him and then having to fight to settle at 4/107.
Boston doesn't need to move him now or anything, but next summer they might.

Ainge gave him an extension that's close to a rookie max when Jaylen was coming off a 13-4-1.4 season as a bench player. At that point, Jaylen wasn't just a below average 3 point shooter. He was shooting 60 something from the free throw line as a guard. 4/107 was a gamble on Ainge's part.

Actually, it was kind of a split thing. Some liked it, others did not. It depended on if you believed in his potential.

Re: If you were Jaylen Brown..
Tatum was horrible in the finals. He was really bad. Jaylen was better than him but he didn’t play good. This idea that Jaylen was dominant in the finals or something is wrong. He was just better than a terrible Tatum.
That said we aren’t even in the finals without tatum. Brown is still a Celtic and we are lucky to have him and he’s a big part of what we do. I think if he’s in Boston he’ll put this behind him for now at least and have a really good year

No he didn't.
His max was near 5/170, and his more likely max was closer to 4/130, so no, he didn't. At Ainge started at 4/80 and severely lowballed him to the point people were discussing whether he should take the QO\. And consensus was 4/80 was stupid low.
And anyone that thought 4/107 wasn't low was wrong too. These poor decisions up front will have an impact later and Brown does remember.
But keep defending Danny Ainge for god knows what reason.
