Kevin Durant Headed Towards Holdout

Post#1 » by taikibansei » Sun Aug 14, 2022 2:58 pm

(From RealGM Wiretap)

This just pisses me off.... :nonono:

Once considered unlikely, it's now believed Durant is heading towards holding out if he's not traded. Many believed Durant's love of basketball would have him in camp, but his insistence that he be traded now seems to be leading towards a holdout.

Durant was reportedly paid 25% of his 2022-23 salary on July 1, with another 25% due on October 1. However, should he hold out, Durant will likely be fined the maximum amount for any time missed.

I hope Thin Man does hold out and that they fine his ass every single penny due. Nets need to hold on to him until they get the exact trade deal they want -- **** him. He can stay at home with Ben playing COD (while Kyrie circles them both burning sage and chanting absolute gibberish).

I'll believe it when I see it. That's all just saber-rattling at this point.

Honestly, I see both sides. He's also 34, so he has to use every tool at his disposal. If they don't trade him, and he holds out (regardless if he's getting fined) then the packages will get worse and the Nets will be stuck in basketball hell. I honestly don't blame him.

With that stated, he might have to go to a team that is not top 2 preferred. I, absolutely, do not see him wanting to play in Toronto, however.

It’s not like a Hold out gonna be different than what Kyrie did last year. If anything KD holding out saves the nets money and keeps more miles off KDs body. If KD ends hold out mid year and Kyrie comes back from his long term fasting, meditation spirit walk at about the same time, the nets can jell in the second half of the year JUST in time to get swept in the first round...

Four months ago, I don't think anybody would have believed KD would even request a trade.

Yeah and no one's coming to Nets games with KD and Simmons out.

Thanks to KD, Kyrie and Ben, the Nets already are in basketball hell. This is a team that on paper should be competing for a championship...but next season won't even make the playoffs.

Morey did fine waiting. Nets need to follow his path.

I'd bet money Kyrie is also missing many games--to "protest the national sage shortage" or something.

They gave him everything he asked for. He enabled Kyrie's antics which led to Harden asking out.

The nets didn't force KD to sign a 4 year extension. If he doesn't show up to play they should fine him and wait until a worthwhile trade that reflects the value of a superstar on a 4 year deal comes along.

These privileged players re-signing with teams and refusing to play is embarrassing. Be a professional.

Time to trade him for scraps… Maybe Fournier + Randle plus a couple picks will do it for the Knicks!

Sick of this holdout bs since Ben Simmons. The league should void any player's extension if they holdout because of trade demand

Not that hard to believe it’ll happen.

You don’t make repeated trade demands with several years left on your deal, including directly to the owner, if you’re not prepared to hold out to make it happen. Ultimately it’s his only true leverage.

If he’s willing to get fined / give up paychecks, the Nets are in a tough spot if they want to salvage their season.

The Nets organization being 'used' as Kyrie and KD's playground.

Nets are headed for the Lottery next season, if Durant sits out due to Trade demands, Simmons sits out due to Call of Duty, and Irving sits out due to yet another Social complaint.

Yes and no. I feel the Nets made complete overtures when trying to sign Durant and they told him he'd have complete control of the team. The Nets then decided that it wasnt working and they were gonna take control back. Perfectly fine, imo, but you sold Durant on something completely different. So when Durant wants Kyrie by his side long term, sign him long term. If he wants some rando trainer, keep that rando trainer. Im not saying Durant isnt wrong, but the Nets trying to take power back when they sold to Durant that he'd have all the power was just dumb. You got into the Kyrie/Durant business, just see that chit through.

What is the current status of Ben Simmon's appeal to get the $20 million dollars that Philly withheld from him? Has the appeal been decided? Just wondering how easy or difficult it is for a player to hold out and eventually receive all his contract money.
