Part of me hopes that Snake & Flake both sit their asses this season, KD continues to make a fool of himself on Twitter, with the Nets winding up with a decent lottery pick in 2023. Yeap, it would suck for Simmons and the others, but at least the rooks from last year can get some nice burn. This season isn't going anywhere, anyway.

Agred.

Teams will get more deseprate.

There is no incentive at all to do this before the deadline.

Also what if another star asks out?

Then we can even do a swap.

If Ben is healthy we will be right there fighting for 6-9 seed. Roster is legit as it gets. Yeah you can nit pick at C and PG position, yet this team on paper and experience wise is battle tested.

I watched buch of Ben games. Dude is like J. Kidd in his Mavs days. This squad gives him chance to compete and redeem himself. I won't bet against it.

Now if Kyrie playing along with KD sitting out, now we got something to sell to LA. 2 unprotected picks is crazy value, Marks will be genius to fetch it. Furthermore, if my prediction is correct. NOP will have great start and some bump during the road. Than we can sell KD and Seth for Ingram and Herb Jones. If not, settle for Brown and whatever.

Personally I won't welcome Smart as a trade chip. He is identity setting type guy, just not sure he's skills will fit our next coach. You welcome to dismiss it though. However, I'd like my coach set the standard, will tell me more about what we working with.

Imagine Kyrie and Simmons actually out there hooping and winning games while he sits out

The Rockets still rebuilding is huge for this season in regards to the pick swap. There is no pressure and the team can take time in finding the right trade.

Hah, your scenario is definitely more realistic than mine.

Positive culture is ultra-important, and in reality, tanking is probably a lousy idea for us. Especially since the team needs to clear up any public perception about who the 'bad guy' is. We need to make sure BRK is still a destination for FA's in future, after the damage KD&KI have done here.

I agree you call his bluff but him sitting out may not be the worst idea for him tbh. Horford sat out half a year in okc and came back and looked rejuvenated and horford didn’t look anywhere near as good as KD to begin with

For now yeah. There's no beef with Kyrie and the front office.

They don't care, they're both really delusional people. Kyrie thinks he's the main character and KD thinks he's a god because he is good at hoops. None of these guys care that they're screwing over the next generation by paving the way for contracts to have stipulations that favor ownership

Honestly we have Kyrie, Ben and a bunch of shooters.

Unless both of them go AWOL or get hurt, we're actually not that bad on paper. Especially if Warren has anything left in the tank scoring wise.

Nah. We want Kyrie to play. It ups his trade value if he balls out and frankly there's no reason why we shouldn't be a decent team as constructed even without KD.

The response here should be trying to win regardless of what KD is doing. He's going to look stupid if he's sitting out while Ben and Kyrie + shooters actually look decent enough to be a playoff team

There's nothing known for sure, but I think the packages that would get it done are:

#1 would be NOLA for Ingram+Herb or similar+ at least 3 picks, which they likely do if KD is willing to go there happily.

#2 would be Brown+starter/rotation player on a positive contract (not White)+ 2-3 picks.

Toronto could probably trump that if they're willing to include Barnes since Barnes is locked up on a rookie deal.

As far as Kyrie goes, the Nets won't deal him until after KD gets dealt. Having a larger aggregated trade helps with salary matching. Also, if no acceptable deal for KD is received and the Nets try to force him to play, they want the most talent possible on the court. Beyond that, Ben and Kyrie's games are good compliments. It may be worth seeing how it works or if trade value can be boosted.

Our team right now

Claxton/Warren/Harris/Kyrie/Simmons
Sharpe/Edwards/O'Neale/Curry/Mills

I mean, we can make the play in at worst with these guys. Let KD sit until someone makes a legitimate offer.

Ok thx. So you would personally keep Kyrie after the KD deal? I thought it was reported that the FO was done with him

It depends on the offer. If the Lakers will give up both future 1sts the Nets probably jump at the deal when KD is dealt. I don't think they would rush and settle for less though. It seems like things are pleasant between Kyrie and the team right now, so they can watch the Simmons+Kyrie (+Brown?) fit for a while and then make a decision.

When it comes to Tsai, politics and his association with the CCP is hugely relevant. Just look at how he was forced to respond to Morey's tweet a couple years ago, even though he had zero association with the whole matter.

The point is that whatever background Tsai has with the USA barely matters to the CCP. That's not how they operate. Tsai's being 'allowed' to operate his share of Alibaba due to their good graces, and the minute they want, they can take it all away from him. Look at what happened to Jack Ma for a similar example.

Mwanwhile, evidently Andrew Bogut just tweeted that 'if KD really wanted to leave the Nets as early as possible, all he'd need to say is something like free Hong Kong / Taiwan doesn't belong to China.' The idea is that the CCP would blow their top and force Tsai to immediately take whatever deal he can for KD.

Personally I think that's not quite how that would go, but the point is that if they absolutely insisted, Tsai would have to comply as best he could.

This isn't to gloss over the fact that the NBA itself (as well as many, or most major corporations) are also in bed with the CCP, meaning addicted to the revenue they gain from China. That gives the CCP a specific variety of influence and vetoes in terms of forcing corporations to do this or that, such as not recognising Taiwan, Tibet, Xinjiang, etc..

It seems like things are pleasant between Kyrie and the team right now, so they can watch the Simmons+Kyrie (+Brown?) fit for a while and then make a decision.

True. Thing is we cant wait like you can...even tho Pelinka/Ham are trying to force feed the narrative of using Russ differently 90% of us want russ gone...including LBJ and AD
