All about tradition. Knicks should always play on Christmas like the Lions should always play on Thanksgiving...

It's a bad tradition.

Although, admittedly, I would be more upset if the Knicks got 20+ nationally televised games again this year, instead of getting this one Christmas day game.

If there's any team that should have to earn their way to nationally televised games, it's the Knicks.

I would like to see more out-of-conference games

Like Sixers vs Nuggets and Celtics vs Clippers
I also rather see Bucks vs Heat, and Mavs vs Suns

Exactly, Bucks played & curb stomped the "scary hour" Harden/Durant Nets last year.

They even got lit up by Jordan Nwora in that game. We Bucks fans thought he turned a page (still pullin for him), he had a monster block on KD that game.

Who else would the knicks play? geographically close larger sports market teams, ppl are going to watch it. basketball wise, thats not a good game on paper unless they get mitchell. Can you think of any other reason for this matchup? competitive rivalry? an individual matchup? they are the only team on that list without a superstar, or even someone who was an all star last year. Your picture        nevermind, put them on the schedule, I like where youre going with this

I wonder if the league is gauging some Mitchell to Knicks whispers.

But a New York game draws a lot of fan interest if the team is even moderately competitive.

I understand that there is growing interest in other up and coming teams and it's good for the league and fans that this is happening.

But Christmas in New York is iconic basketball aside. Including the Knicks feels like a tradition that anchors the new rivalries brewing.

Plus of course including all the teams that are the big earners on Christmas is huge exposure and good business for the league and all the other teams that benefit from the windfall.

Interesting don't remember mentioning the raptors but continue to insert raps in if you feel. Clippers is more so what I was aiming at

League is stacked. No Clips, Nets, Heat, Pelicans or Wolves.

Beyond that teams like the Cavs, Bulls, Hawks could be fun and make some noise and would be candidates most years.
The feedback I've received from our fans is they understand we are trying to build something great. Good decisions come from having a broad set of options and making tough calls. We will do it unblinkingly. We have to be willing to take smart risks-Hinkie

Not having Jokic vs Embiid here is a major loss. I get the Knicks are included for financial reasons but it’s still kinda disappointing. You have the two best centers in the league, hopefully both with title level supporting casts (with Murray/MPJ coming back), you gotta promote that as one of your main matchups.

1. Lebron is the most popular and recognizable player in the world.
2. Lakers is the most prestigious brand in the NBA.
3. Los Angeles is a massive market.

Hardcore fans know this lakers team isn't good. Casuals don't. And casuals drive tv ratings.

Agree on 1 and 2. 3 is technically true, but in terms of the nba....the warriors have way too much cross over with it, which kinda makes this dumb. I'd rather see Giannis (marketable player) or 76ers (good sized eastern conference market with two mega stars) or better, the normal champs vs runners up....boston vs warriors? That's the best idea.

People read the first response of a thread and follow, I swear.

This isn't that crazy of an opener, I'm not sure why everyone is freaking out. The Lakers vs the Champ Warriors in 2022 -

LA 115 - GS 117 (No Dray)
Lakers 124 - GS 116 (56 point LeBron game)(No AD but also no Dray)
Lakers 112 - GS 128 (No Steph, but no LeBron, AD or Russ)

People acting like this is the 2017 Warriors

Is there only 1 game on that night? I'd assume there would be 2 with this as the West Coast game.
