Another good tank signing. I'm guessing they are contemplating signing Jones because he might accidentally win us some games

I still think tanking is different to the full rebuild we're doing but you need top tier talent to compete and there are few of them and few ways to get them.

Spinning wheels for the play in showed we needed to choose another way. I'm glad we faced it head on and are committed to it. It's a year earlier than I thought we would try but we were prepared either way.

Wait who? Are we even talking about the same guy? Hahaha!

Well I'm ok with development good enough that surprises and entices and gives us something great to look forward to when we add our next franchise player :D

Flattened odds and a very young team means we don't have to choose between development and sitting players out.

Will you be catching Spurs live this season?

Welcome back, Wiesy!

Good deal for him, wow!

EDIT to add:

The deal only becomes fully guaranteed if Weiskamp makes the squad out of training camp

https://www.expressnews.com/sports/spurs/allspursnation/article/Wieskamp-Spurs-training-camp-17390884.php

It could be a good deal. Joe has to earn a spot first. Will make for a very competitive camp.

Not sure what to make of what appears contradictory info. Have to look further into it when I make time for it later ...

I think this fills our final roster spot coming into camp:

Kuhse, 24, spent his five-year college career at Saint Mary’s, averaging 12.2 PPG, 3.7 APG, and 3.7 RPG on .494/.450/.808 shooting in 34 games (30.0 MPG) as a “super-senior” in 2021/22.

This signing puts our roster at 21 so we have to make some decisions:

Waiting until Ayton can be traded in January?

They are waiting to drive the price up hoping someone gets antsy with an early season injury. There is no hurry for us to move them. I fully expect one or each of them to have a dislocated shoulder at some point early in the season before the deadline :D

Also, I don't think we are interested in Ayton.

This will be the last time I'll mention it here but I said numerous times we should have taken Jalen Duren.

The kid is 18 and put up 14pts, 10rb, 3blks in his first game in just 21 minutes.

Good shot blocking instincts, runs the floor well and can dunk from anywhere.

What a fit he would have been in this current team and even next to the player we are tanking for.

Will he ever spread the floor? Or run in transition? Pass? Durent excels so far in what he is - a high end utility player. He's a rebounder, screener, shot blocker.

Sochan averaged more assists, steals, and actually took some 3s, handled the ball in transition.

He's also a PF to Duren's C, a position we're well solidified at with Jakob who is near the top with defense, rebounding and blocking, and assists. And we know we'll the downside of a player who doesn't make FTs and doesn't spread the floor. It hurts the overall game plan having an exploitable player with built-in deficiencies to his game.

There are fewer traditional Cs left and fewer still going in the lotto. There's a reason for that.

Horrible?
Viktor is a center, not a pf.
The role of the classic center in modern basketball is evidenced by the playing time of Kevon Looney, Robert Williams and Ivica Zubac in the playoffs. All of them play less than 25 minutes.

1 pro game is a little too early to tell but I preferred Duren over Sochan also. Who knows what we were looking at though pre-draft. Work ethic? Compatibility with the current roster? Talent-wise, its wayy too early to tell who will be a better player. I'd say re-visit this in April or May and we would have a better idea.

Duren has a great opportunity right off with Bagley getting hurt. Sochan has opportunity because we have no one else. It will play out.
