Huh. The Nets aren't interested in a horrible return for Kyrie.

Re: Nets are not interested in the Lakers first rounders for Kyrie
The Nets aren’t interested in trading KD either. They won’t willingly try to help KD, Kyrie or Lebron unless there are enough “forces” pushing them to do so to where it makes sense.
Time will tell.

But when a player has years left on the contract, why does the team only trade the player to where the player wants to go? They don't owe the player that at all. Brooklyn should be considering offers from all 29 teams. Trade KD (or Kyrie) to whoever offers the best in return, even if that's a non-playoff team.

Re: Nets are not interested in the Lakers first rounders for Kyrie
My theory is the Nets plan all along was to run it back with Simmons this time now that the dust has settled on his court case. They want to make Kyrie prove he'll play before paying him though, and this in turn infuriated both Kyrie and KD. Kyrie has to play nice because of the unfavorable position this puts him in so Durant is putting up a stink for him by proxy. In KD and Kyrie's mind THEY run the show, and not extending Kyrie was a form of insubordination by Joe Tsai and Sean Marks. They can't request Tsai fire himself so Nash is collateral damage here.
Tsai has no intentions of moving Kyrie any time soon. He's going to drag this into the season and call their bluff.

I don’t see anyone else’s trading for him. So he will have to play well and hit the FA

The Nets shouldn't give Kyrie a contract after this year, he's already shown he's selfish.

Yup, I think at this point Brooklyn logic is pretty clear.
1. There is a ~10% chance Kyrie is locked in and playing at a high level to get a max. The 10% chance of a rejuvinated Kyrie outweighs the value of 2 distant first round picks from the most successful franchise in NBA history.
2. If he goes fulls moron, John Wall him so he can't damage team morale.
I'm not sure it is the right call. I'd be inclined to take the 2 picks. I'd at least strongly consider it and would consider the 2 FRP a viable framework.

I'm afraid I have bad news about the assumption that there are 29 teams interested in trading for Kyrie, or even 2 for that matter.

The correct move is to rope in the Pacers. They get Westbrook and the two firsts. The Nets get Turner and McConnell. The Lakers get Kyrie.

Teams that aren't on the player's preferred list wouldn't make a serious offer to trade for the player. If the player is already asking out of a situation that he dislike, it's only logical to assume that if he goes to another team that he dislike the process will just repeat itself.
Under the current CBA structure both teams need to consult with the player especially when the player has multiple years remaining.

Re: Nets are not interested in the Lakers first rounders for Kyrie
Of course they're not interested in trading him for what will likely be two inconsequential draft picks. And if they were to trade him, why would they trade him when his value is at its lowest? You can argue that it's better to get something now than to lose him for nothing next summer, but 1) that Lakers offer is barely more than nothing and 2) even if he wanted to go somewhere else next summer (and I'm not convinced this is the case), he would almost certainly need a sign and trade to get to a preferred destination on a max contract, so the risk of losing him for nothing just isn't very high.

Re: Nets are not interested in the Lakers first rounders for Kyrie
I still think the Sixers lucked out of the Ben Simmons situation. If the Nets wasn't such a dumpster fire last year Harden wouldn't have asked for a trade and the whole situation with Simmons could linger all the way until this year. Under the current CBA the strategy of dragging the process hurts all parties involved. If I'm the Nets I would just take my loss and move on.

Nets aren't moving Kyrie while KD is still a Net. Not sure why this is such an abstract topic for some.
