Re: Fire Casey
It's going to become readily apparent this season for many, just how poor Caseys rotations are. He is r-i-g-i-d.

That could have been for development purposes as an easy way to make sure minutes are getting spread around without having to have someone keep an up to the minute spreadsheet of who has played how many minutes.

Fire Casey into what? What sort of cannon? Might be an interesting spectator event, bring butts into seats. Need specifics.

You know it's getting really late in the offseason when humor is a requirement for a thread to have even miniscule entertainment value.
For the record, Casey would be fired out of a cannon, not into it. And to get even more literal, assuming said cannon--for the sake of safety--would be spring-activated rather than utilizing a gunpowder-fueled explosion, Casey would be launched out of it rather than fired.

I constantly see people say Casey is good at developing players, but I haven't seen much evidence of it. Certainly a poor X's and O's coach.
He gives minimum developmental time to the kids who need it, and ends up giving way too many mins to old guys like Corey Jo, Wayne Ellington, Rodney, Plumlee ect.
He shouldn't be running these 15 deep rotations the last few years.
And one thing i don't think anyone mentioned is that NBA coaches rarely coach on the last year of a contract without getting an extension or fired before last year even starts. I would think the decision would be made end of this season.
Just about the entire Raptors core that won the Championship was developed by Casey (Siakam, Lowry and FVV in particular), not to mention DeRozan. Too early to tell if the young guys here are progressing but I think the arrows are pointing up for Bey, Stewart and Livers. Cade is Cade, he'll do well regardless and the early returns on Hayes aren't encouraging but, by and large, Casey has a real good track record of developing young talent and getting players to play really hard for him.
His issues have been in game decision making, rotations, adjustments, too reliant on ISO ball etc. but lets not act like he's a complete dud.

Siakam was definitely not developed by Dwane Casey. Casey treated him like Chuck Nevit. He had no clue what he had in Siakam.
Siakam owes his career to the GM who fired Casey and promoted Nurse.

I don't think just firing him randomly would do. We'd want a suitable target if we went all Evel Knievel on him.
(Honestly, my post started out as a more-serious "Fire Casey, and then what?", then I went "screw it Casey ain't going anywhere this is pointless", then lazily rewrote during a boring call in which I wanted to launch everyone else on the call out of a cannon.)

I certainly enjoyed your change of heart regarding post content.
My employer LOVES internal call-in meetings (which they all are post-COVID). I'm coming up on five years with the company and amongst the salaried ranks I'm the baby usually. Point being, they've done things a certain way for so long with almost no outside influences that everyone just accepts that a meeting is always the best way to handle an issue. I have weekly meetings that are, and I'm not exaggerating one bit, 5-7 minutes long...EVERY. SINGLE. WEEK. Generally it's one issue that needs to be handled and two people discussing the update while everyone else sits silent. But my boss is that "It's good to know" guy and attends them all meaning I'm expected to attend them all. Which is fine; I mute my microphone and post here. I'm retiring in March 2025 so I'm waaaaaaaaaay past putting up any resistance about dumb stuff; almost everything qualifies as a hill not worth dying on at this point, especially since 15 hours of actual meetings/work per week is about all I do (again, not an exaggeration at all). For what I get paid that's almost criminal.

My goal was to derail it right away. So other then a guy in promotions possibly getting harassed, I like to think it worked out
