I disagree I think he’s gotten better playing off the ball and cutting finishing at the rim once harden arrived.

He may have cut more frequently with Harden , but hes still not a great finisher unless its a wide open dunk. Once teams adapt to him cutting he was almost useless on offense. They watched for the cut but didnt defend him out to the 3pt line Teams ignore him which causes 4on5 and easier doubling on Harden and Embiid, its just that simple.

Lol .. there’s no way teams can ignore him on the 3 point line especially on this roster. House actually has to be accounted for unlike Thybulle. Are we talking about House?

after Harden started playing (Minnesota game) Matisse shot 19 for 53 from 3 - 35.8%

Harden played in 21 games as a Sixer. That means Matisse only took about 2.5 threes per game and made less than 1 of those while Harden was here.

Not only does the percentage have to go up, the volume has to go up. Unless he sucks at shooting again, in which case he needs to be benched.

It really would be easier to just trade him if possible.

Basically, it’s just a bet on two outcomes.

Getting a good return for Thybulle or Thybulle improving his jumper.

I think you bet on both outcomes where you put him on the market and dont sell low on Thybulle while play wait and see if his jumper is improved. And honestly, this game you have to play until when his contract is almost over.

I yell and scapegoat and banish as much as anyone in the heat of games, but for me repeating the same criticisms (when they’re already known and have been acted on) starts to look pathetic at a certain point, like frustrated losers nursing grievances. I don’t think that happened in this thread though, and sure I don’t need to point it out whenever I do feel it happening. Team board’s supposed to have good vibes right.

Thats your opinion and thats fine but there are 82 games in the season if a player repeats the same mishaps every game than your going to hear the same criticism about that player. Matisse is not a old vet past his prime , he is a a young player with great athleticism and huge opportunity to get better and he hasnt.

Not only that, he has basically been charged with one task to get better at and he can’t even do that. No one is asking him to start handling the ball, shoot off the dribble, improve his vision, etc.

Matisse shooting even like 36-37% from three would fit like a glove next to Harden and Maxey with his defensive ability. I think that’s a huge source of the frustration.

Give the kid some frickin time!!!! He’s only what 23 years old?)? Let the kid develop he’s already defensive player of the year on one end of the floor, he obviously worked on his cutting slashing to the rim and finishing. The shot will be arriving this season for sure!

He may be 23, but he's had four years of college and three in the pros, and his offensive game hasn't developed one iota. Face it, this is what he is as a player. You can live on hope like you want to do, or move him now when you might still be able to get something of value for him. I'd rather get someone who can be productive on both ends of the floor.

He is 25. He has regressed as a shooter. He played 4 years in college. He’s going on his fourth year in the NBA. Why are you yelling.

yes, Thybulle's 25

how old was Bruce Bowen when he played his first season in the NBA? Did his 3-Ball develop after the age of 25?

Yeah, I didn't do the math. At 23 he would have started college at age 16.

Bruce Bowen has to be the only player to ever lead the league in 3pt percentage (44.1%) while simultaneously being last in the league in free throw percentage (40.4%). Or, at least, he would have been last if he had qualified with enough attempts. 2002-03.

I'm mostly just confused about what people think Thybulle's role is going to be? If he plays like he did at the end of last year he'll probably end up being behind the starters and House and Melton for minutes meaning he'll be in like Furkan role last year where he was barely playing post-trade when everyone was healthy. Heck if Furkan or Shake bounce back or IDK Joe or Springer or Queen show out maybe they even pass him for that role. If he turns a corner he'll probably get more minutes.

I don't think he has to be a high volume 3 point shooter to be a valuable player though. Like PJ Tucker has averaged under 3.5 3PA per 36 the last two years and he's played a big role on successful teams over that time. There's only so many shots to go around in some of these lineups.

Really what I think the ideal thing is him and House ebb and flow in roles throughout the year based on who is playing well. Of course there will probably be injuries that blow that up.

Yeah, let’s bank on him being the 1% outlier case.
