It's so weird to get up for this team. I just wish we had a direction, and a leader. Right now, we're just interminably waiting to tear it all down. The killer is, we could be a top 3 team in the East, if we were 100% invested. But we're not. We have people here that don't want to be here, after they dictated 80% of the decisions that caused them to not want to be here.

I don't mean to be a wet blanket, I will gladly re-plan my vacation to NY with my oldest daughter to see my first live Brooklyn Nets game. I will only do so when this team is full of players who want to play for the Brooklyn Nets. Whether we're 70-12 or 12-70, I'll cheer us on loud and proud.
Some people really have a way with words. Other people... not... have... way.

Usually I would be stoked about the schedule and parsing through it, but the uncertainty and lack of commitment from Durant is killing my enthusiasm.

I'm sure the NBA isn't too pleased either to have their schedule release marred by this garbage. We don't even know if these national TV dates will even remain in place.

I'm shocked that we have 22 games nationally. I'd usually be happy about it, but...whatever.

Anyway, those first six games are absolutely brutal. We need to hold down homecourt vs NO, TOR and split with the Mavs.

I'm riding with whoever wants to be here, play ball, and win games. I absolutely think that our team is still solid even without KD, so I am not counting us out at all. Kyrie, Ben + Shooters, and we've got three excellent defenders in Royce/Ben/Claxton. We're not going to be rolling over for anyone if everyone here is committed.

We should be playing a high pace style of basketball based on forcing TOs and getting out on the break. Simmons is lethal in the open court and thrives in finding open shooters.

Brutal first 5 games especially if a trade doesn't go down. Can easily see a 1-4 start.

The league is certainly trying to eliminate mileage. We’re 13th in the league in back to backs and other teams are already getting a baseball-like schedule.

The Pelicans schedule has a unique part of their schedule I would expect to see going forward:

12/9 - Vs Phoenix
12/11 - Vs Phoenix
12/13 - @ Utah
12/15 - @ Utah
12/17 - @ Phoenix

That's yet another player friendly concession that the league is making. I don't love it though, because you can lose a season series to a conference rival if one of your players are hurt the wrong week.

The NBA should be using a hybrid schedule that is a mix of the NFL's schedule and the MLB series style schedule.

The schedule should be division based, so teams will play most of their games within the division, but instead of everyone playing the other division/outer conference match ups 2x a year, the out of division/conference games will be focused on 2 random divisions, and they'll play a series of games, 2 to 3 games, which will be a homestand for the home team. The in division games will be a series as well, unless their travel distance is below a certain threshold to where back to back games feel like high school basketball travel games.

You may have to realign conferences, but it would reduce travel by a lot, and would make certain match ups even more special if they only happen every two to 3 years, and it will create new rivalries based on back to backs or best 2 out of 3 homestands

They likely will do this after the next CBA when they start introducing expansion to Las Vegas and Seattle.

I think there’s a time zone imbalance that makes it difficult to realign conferences due to TV deals.

It’s hard to book teams in the East and West with similar time slots usually booked at 7pm EST or 8pm EST.

Nets
Knicks
Raptors
Celtics
Sixers
Heat
Bulls
Grizzlies
Pelicans
Mavs
Hawks

All teams with star power but because of the time zones they can’t start later than 8:30pm EST or Central which also impacts ticket sales. Working class folks can’t be there until 11pm or 12am at night on a regular season basis. It’s also harder to get good ratings if they start earlier because most people and kids are still not home.

The baseball like schedule atleast also gives fans a chance to see the same team twice if they aren’t able to attend the first game.

Good points, the logistics part is a serious hurdle.

an MLB style schedule would be really great for fans though. Like the Warriors are a huge draw, so fans knowing that the Warriors/Steph will be in NYC for an entire week's worth of games would probably be a massive draw.

They need to change some of these national games. Not having us on Christmas looks silly.
