Pat Bev to LAL for THT

Post#1 » by cheese318 » Thu Aug 25, 2022 3:26 am

Looks like that’s gonna go down tomorrow morning. THT & Stanley Johnson got Pat Bev. More moves to come in the next 10-14 days I think. Russ is next to go

Bev is likely your starting PG and defensive anchor. It is a massive win at a steal of a price. Don’t know why Ainge did it, but you should be very happy he did.

Ainge gets to roll the dice on young raw talent, ideal for a tank commander.

A young raw talent with a player option. If he plays well he leaves. If he plays badly he stays and Ainge is stuck paying a bad player a high salary. Even with it as expiring it will be less valuable next year than Pat was this year.

Pelinka is on the hook for this move, and that debacle move for Westbrook plus more. He is trying to dig himself out of the hole with a move for Pat Bev

Hallelujah.

Should've traded THT for Lowry and then should've kept Caruso. But you can't go back now and this is a great move.

Now get Westbrook the F outta here.

Positive: he play defense, is a competitive junk yard dawg.

Questionable: is he getting old and injury prone?

Definite: It’s the typical LBJ rotrajectory, sell all promising youth, replace with vets. The day he leaves…

I've got my doubts about Bev. He was thrown into the Gobert trade as an after thought. And now traded for a former 2nd rounder with questionable value, by Danny Ainge no less. Got this feeling there's something we don't know.

Dude is still a pesky defender and can shoot the three at a decent clip. Miles better fit on this roster than THT. I’ll take it…most importantly it gets us one step closer to trading Westbrooks trash ass.

Lakers moves this offseason:
- 1 year deal to Lonnie
- 1 year vet mins for depth
- Traded for expiring PatBev and got off only 23-24 money outside of LeBron/Davis

So all indications point to Lakers wanting capspace in 2023 offseason..

Don't think Russ gets moved unless it's for expirings or players Lakers would value to the level of FAs in 2023 like GTJ/Turner

The good news is that PatBev is one of the best fits for Lakers keep Westbrook. Low usage PG that can guard opposing PG and hit 3s. Westbrook can focus on defending SG/SF with his size, playmaking, corner 3s and hitting the dunker spot during 1-in/4-out plays

Finally ... Pat Bev is on the Lakers ... I wanted him a few years back though :) but still love it

You all laughed at me wanting him a few years back - just wish we got him than, not now, but still love it

I like the fit but THT is good and young...

I am concerned that this trade means no Hield (2 year deal)...

MLE: Lonnie Walker... Could have got a Martin or Donte,,,
Vet Min: Love JTA but Brown, Bryant and Damien?
Trade: THT for Beverly... May be a better fit but Utah may have waived him...

Not sure Pelinka is as good a GM as Agent...

If Bev can stay healthy, this is a really nice deal, otherwise we dealt away some much needed wing depth to open up cap space for '23.

I love the move but as long as bev can stay healthy. I have a feeling he's going to miss half the season.

Solid move. LA get shooting and defense at the point of attack and Utah roll the dice on a couple of young players. Also, Lakers create extra spending power next season. There's also enough overlap between Johnson and JTA and Troy Brown Jr. that it wont hurt too much on the wing.

Not the biggest THT fan here…still not a fan of this move. The right move should’ve been to first get rid of Russ, then promote THT to the starting unit to see if he thrives playing next to a better group of players. THT + Russ never made sense and I think this affected the big second year leap some were hoping for. Bev is too old an injury prone for my liking. I would’ve much preferred Schröder for free.

Hey I like him too but the Clippers extended him. Another reason is because he doesn’t need to dominate the ball to be effective unlike most guards.
Is it too much to ask if he plays more than 65 games, plays good enough defense while shooting 37% (his career ave)?

Or they trade Russ for Hield and Turner then find another team like Washington to absorb Buddy’s contract next summer?
But I’m intrigued to know who are they eyeing next offseason? What if these 2 play great this year, is the prospect really worth it?

Wait, you don’t consider Troy Brown Jr, Lonnie, JTA, Reaves as wing defenders?
