Does anyone know how the roster spot works? I feel like if they apply for the disabled player exception they should be able to add/keep an additional body.

Re: OKC Thunder 2022-23 Regular Season Discussion
First season since the rebuild that I was really really excited about
Worst part is that I don't think Chet's injury gonna help the tank that much if we play Favors/Muscala.
I'm still optimistic about Chet's future but damn this is beyond terrible. Gotta hope JDub plays well and Dieng shows some flashes...

Presti believes he will make a full recovery. Not that optimistic but Chet work ethic is certainly off the chart.

Re: OKC Thunder 2022-23 Regular Season Discussion
I'm going to be optimistic and call it a blessing in disguise. He needs to spend the entire year bulking like a gym bro, protein macros and all that. This will also give Jalen Williams a chance to be the primary rookie on the floor rather than in the shadow of Chet. I kind of agree with Dadouv47 that I don't actually think this hurts our win/loss percentage much, or I'd say it could help us land another great draft pick next year.
We have plenty of young talent to develop this year, so I'm still excited about that. I was excited about Chet but will have to wait.

It definitely cold be a blessing in disguise. Definitely glad it wasn't a bone fracture. Oh well. Sports is disappointment. As a shai fan, I can't help but wonder how this impacts his long term future here. This seems like a good reason/excuse for Presti to really maximize tanking this year if Shai isn't a part of the long term plan.

I think it's too early to think about Shai. We need to see how our team will perform this season but yeah we badly need Giddey to take a leap and another guy to show some great signs (Jdub?) otherwise Shai will likely want out.

Re: OKC Thunder 2022-23 Regular Season Discussion
root a season for OKC to get a high pick and draft Chet ==> got lucky in the lottery ==> OKC drafted the guy I wanted ==> he played like a future franchise player in his first Summer League game ==> season ending injury one month after that.
Don't ask me to think about the 2023 draft. Just hope some players can take a major leap (maybe Giddey?) and our rookies will show some nice things. At least one of Dieng/Poku/Bazley should benefit from Chet's injury

Just Fast Forward to '23-24 season where the Thunder add Chet and Victor to this team with Shai, Giddey & $25M in cap space.
You can be the 5th man on that team.

Re: OKC Thunder 2022-23 Regular Season Discussion
We still have a ton of young players who we get to watch develop.
I love Santa Clara Williams and am hyped to watch him. It’s time to see if Poku sinks or swims. Giddey is going to have more offensive options. Will shai make a leap? Giddey? Is baze going to play himself out of the league? Will one of the guys we’ve counted out (maledon, Jerome, vit) unexpectedly show out? Will Mann build on last season’s success? Will presti really turn them loose for the first half of the season? Will Kenrich and JRE turn into upper level Swiss army role players? Was the defense a mirage? Will dieng show any signs or is he mega raw?
There are lots of interesting things goin on with this team. Chin up, fellas.

One positive is that I think this gives more opportunity for Dieng to develop. He should be the starting PF now.

On one hand, even the best rookies don't really have a huge impact on winning. OTOH, just having Chet play alongside he and Giddey for a year and showing his potential could have gone a long ways towards helping shai feel good about the future in OKC. We need something to happen this year to make Shai feel positive about staying here. Perhaps that's some other young players overachieve like Dieng or JDub. Maybe he makes his first all star game. Overall this is pretty disappointing for this year but as mentioned, it could be a blessing in disguise assuming Chet makes a full recovery and can have a year to work on the rest of his body.

It’s a front court of
Bazely/Poku
JRE /Jaylin With Dieng given some minutes post all star break .

This is the main hope now mostly . He can work on his skills etc as well but hope he gym and bulk up or at least put on more muscle mass .

I just want to hear that his recovery is on track. Body building and working on mechanics is great, but I want his foot to be 100% healthy and healed correctly.

Supposedly the NFL's Panther's starting running back had this same injury, missed all last year and is back in training camp now and 100%. I think this might be a blessing in disguise for Chet to get a redshirt year. Gives him a chance to work on his body a bit more. Keep confidence up when he gets into actual games.
