The trade is interesting because it lines up with a potential NYK deal. I mean if you have Brunson, Mitchell, and Rose you have zero interest in Beverly but THT and Stanley Johnson are different stories.

Ainge might be finding better pieces to line up with what the NYK need.

Wouldn't THT - let's pretend the Knicks want him or Stanley Johnson - wouldn't THT have to be traded separately to the Knicks IF the Jazz acquired him on his own?

Neither Simmons or Adebayo can be traded for Mitchell so I don't think Miami or BK can put up anything close to what we can.

i meant it like, if you want the picks, you don't get to ask for which players you take back. here's randle and change. i believe we have players on the roster than can be assets before their extensions, especially with an opportunity to show more (iq, obi, grimes, and cam). basically, having a bunch of youth makes losing the next few years of 1sts acceptable if it means we acquire a real star. if we're giving up the 1sts, i prefer not to give up the youth as well, so take this money off our hands and enjoy your many draft selections over the next 3 years that we'll spend trying to compete and tinkering with our team

Then he needs to request a trade. That’s the one way the Knicks will get some leverage. If he causes a stink and refused to play then maybe it would put pressure on Utah to get things done. But at the end of the day, like KD learned, years on your contract gives the team options.

it is..its the moves in the future that were the issue. But then again we weren't giving up 3 unprotected picks for melo either...they took most of our young players right now.

2 things the knicks needs to accomplish this trade

acquire mitchell for the minimum Ainge will give him up for

leave enough in the cupboard so that you can make another trade in the future.
