Frelick absolutely destroying AAA, 1.047 OPS in 46 PA. Think he will be up in September. Career .324 BA, 75K, 60 BB in minors. Not much power but he’s perfect top of order guy.

We can call up 2 in September, I'd love to see him up here.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

He's set to be a free agent at the end of the year. Still walks too many but his numbers across the board got better this season.

He still might also be our best hitting 3rd baseman too.

I'd forgotten about that pick nonsense.

Rosenthal looked solid in Nashville tonight. I imagine he'll be up this weekend.

Not sure I understand, what is the deal with the pick?

PROSPECT PROMOTION INCENTIVE

A team is eligible for Prospect Promotion Incentive (PPI) draft picks if a rookie-eligible player with 60 days or fewer of major league service who is included on a preseason top 100 prospect list by two or more of Baseball America, ESPN.com or MLB.com is promoted and finishes high in award voting in any year before he is eligible for arbitration. The team would get an amateur draft pick for a Rookie of the Year or a top three in MVP or Cy Young, and an international selection if second or third in Rookie of the Year, or fourth or fifth in Cy Young. A team can gain at most one PPI pick in the amateur draft and three total PPI picks for any individual prospect in his career.

Ok, so just an incentive to not sit the clock on a rookie that is Major League ready. I seem to recall the Mariners GM getting caught admitting that in an interview a few years back.

All teams do it, and can you really blame a small market team for doing so given baseball’s financial structure? Nope.

Nope. I don’t blame them until there is a salary cap. Maybe just don’t admit it on the radio, seems like the agents and player unions have an understanding that works for now

At Nashville, through game 1 today:

Frelick (age 22): .459 BA, 1.092 OPS
Ruiz (age 23): .302 BA, .760 OPS
Turang (age 22): .288 BA, .788 OPS
Mitchell (age 23): .333 BA, .901 OPS

Wiemer (age 23) has reallly been the only major prospect struggling (.214/.611), and hopefully that was injury related.

New updates to the pipeline. Chourio up to #11 in all of baseball; Frelick at 49; Wiemer at 89.

Also for Brewers top 30, Misioriowski in at #9, behind Ruiz.

Exciting times!

If Sal isn’t in the bigs by the end of this week shame on the Brewers.

AAA Stats:

Frelick: .419/.494/.514/1.008 (85 PA)
Mitchell: .333/.429/.470/.898 (77 PA)
Ruiz: .338/.411/.431/.842 (75 PA)
Turang: .287/.355/.413/.769 (498 PA)
Wiemer: .258/.286/.455/.740 (70 PA)

Feel like the offensive base of talent in the system is as good as it's been since Braun/Fielder/Hardy/Weeks days. You have those five, then Chourio, Black, Quero, Brown, Valerio, Mendez, among others.

Given the upcoming cost of Burnes/Woodruff, they badly need Gasser and Misiorowski to hit, along with a few others. They really need to add more pitching depth to the system but the offensive talent is looking really damn strong.

Cam Robinson is probably going to skyrocket up our top 30. Not 23 yet, 1.36 ERA this year along three levels with 69 K/22 BB in 53 IP.

Hopefully we can develop some pitching so we don't have to trade hitters. Burnes and Woodruff have 2 years left and will be 30 & 32 when they hit FA. I doubt either will be here then, likely traded in the next year.

This farm system needs to invest in some catchers. Our major leaguers have been awful this year and we only have two catchers among our top 30 prospects, neither of whom are anywhere close to contributing. I thought Feliciano might turn into something, but that's starting to feel like a dead end, too.
