Re: Pat Bev to LAL for THT
If y'all just worried about him playing minutes due to Injury ... Than Lakers need to watch and monitor his minutes - No back to back or road trip games unless needed - Reaves can play his role easily and we'll have Nunn as well - Bev is bought in for Defense and distracting other teams super star guard players - He playing the role of D.Green and I like this sign a lot
Bev of the bench makes so much sense, bu a lot of people placing him in the starting lineup ... This is a no, no - off the bench, yes, but starting line up No... Place either Reaves/Nunn in the starting line up B4 Bev - this depends on match ups and how each player going each game though
My Go Team
Magic, Jordan, Bird, Duncan, Shaq
My Fav 5 by position
J Williams, Kobe, Carter, Dirk, Shaq
White boy lineup
Luka, Reaves, Knecht, Laravia, Lauri

Wait, you don’t consider Troy Brown Jr, Lonnie, JTA, Reaves as wing defenders?
Lonnie has never shown to be one, the rest are either too young or cannot handle significant minutes in high pressure match ups. If even one of them pops, it would be found money.

The only good move that Pelinka has done it in the last 3 years. Now he better get assests for Westbrook

I am concerned that this trade means no Hield (2 year deal)...
MLE: Lonnie Walker... Could have got a Martin or Donte,,,
Vet Min: Love JTA but Brown, Bryant and Damien?
Trade: THT for Beverly... May be a better fit but Utah may have waived him...
Not sure Pelinka is as good a GM as Agent...
Definitely wouldn't classify him as a good player, but he's still only 21 so only time will tell if this is another front office blunder. My gut tells me this is the right move not only in the short run but in the long run as well. I don't see THT being anything more than a backend bench player.

Re: Pat Bev to LAL for THT
We can't speak highly enough about what PatBev helped instill in Minnesota. It seems like a high price to give up a young guy with promise, but we once thought that too when we were acquiring him. I know THT isn't Culver, but Beverley will have the same type of impact. The injuries are unfortunately part of the package deal.
For me, this takes you from potentially missing the play-in to for sure making the play-in at minimum. Yes he's that impactful, even on a team with James and Davis.

THT has the raw talent but doesnt have the cerebral and methodical approach he needs to turn that into actual skill that sustains throughout the course of a full game. I agree he won't go anywhere now this is his fourth year and he's stagnated since the second year. This is it for him and it is fine because more than half the league is like this.

Re: Pat Bev to LAL for THT
We're older again...that's for sure. Fits right in with Lebron's modus operandi, so I suppose you can't be too surprised.
We'll see if he's able to make the impact he used to be able to do. He was a good role player, and a tough defender. What this team needs. 34 is old...so this could be another mistake. Won't call it a disaster, as I think THT was never going anywhere here in LA. Get out from Lebron's shadow, and see what you can do.
Best of luck to him. Now Rob needs to get brick-boy off the squad.

Re: Pat Bev to LAL for THT
When he plays, Bev is a useful player. Problem is (1) he's a small guard over 30 and tends to suffer nagging lower body injuries and (2) when he is healthy, he's in foul trouble a lot.

Pat Beverly hasn't been the player everyone thinks he is for a couple seasons now... This is a cost cutting move masquerading as an improvement.

Most young guys would really develop after 2-3 years in the league especially with a great skills coach like Phil Handy but not only did he regressed with both FG&3pt% the last 3 years but he also has failed the team to step up with his defense. When Vogel lost KCP and Caruso, he foolishly pinned his hopes on THT as the player to defend against prolific guards…and it’s not the lack of progression but also a bad fit next to Lebron. This team badly needs a 3&D player who doesn’t need the ball to be effective and THT is not that.

We gave up Stanley Johnson, too. That’s a painful price for Beverly, THT and Stanley…

At least you can count on Beverly to bring effort every night. That’ll go a long way.

Unfortunately adding in Stanley’s contract was the only way to make the deal work.

Re: Pat Bev to LAL for THT
Another player who is on the downside for the only player who will be better in 5 years on this squad. I don't see this changing anything in a meaningful way. Defense isn't an individual aspect of the game and with the holes we have in team defense he's going to provide a minimal change at best.
Hey.... will Vegas give us good odds on Beverly, Bron and Davis on the injured list at the same time?

Thought this team was trying to get younger?
They either have really have high hopes for Nunn, or still have a big move in the works.

Re: Pat Bev to LAL for THT
I don't like this deal a bit.
Pat Bev is old and declining. Gritty defense doesn't necessarily means good defense. What I see is he didn't help the Clippers advance deep in the playoff even with Kawhi and George with his defense. Remember when we have a Avery Bradley here last summer doing literally what Pat Bev offer? How was it goes? Remember We let go of Caruso, who play great individual defense, elite team defense, good yet low volume 3-pt shooter, high energy, good passing skills and BBIQ and much younger, taller and healthier, to save 10M a year? Now, we are getting a player who is worse in literally every aspect for significantly higher price and give up a prospect they chose to keep last year over Caruso and more?
What is good is he brings the intensity and energy to the team as an example of young players and energize them. A starter? No. A good bench role player? Yes
THT is still young and still has the potential. Stanley Johnson just revived. Both will be useful for a couple of years at least. It is not a fair trade to me to swap those two for Pat Bev alone. But I doubt we will get any pick compensation. Even if you want to trade THT for players who fit better next to Bron and AD, Pat Bev is not high on my list.
What a joke this front office has been in this few years.
Another thought is that Pelinka and co is planning for the WB trade so that he could receive 3 players at most while only sending WB out. A deal is close for WB?
Note:
1. I'd rather us signing Schroder back then getting Pat Bev. Now, signing him is sensible only if Nunn is traded as well.
2. Despite not loving the trade, I still hope he plays great as a Laker and win Champion with us.

Re: Pat Bev to LAL for THT
The underrated aspect here is that the Lakers are now sitting on ~ $22M of expiring contracts outside of Westbrook to reshuffle at the trade deadline.
