Fairly sh*tty trade proposal. Easily one of the worst.
It's 2 unprotected, and a light protection in 2027 with an unlikely pick swap. What's the obsession of keeping Grimes out of this trade? He's good but expendable. Plus, do you replace Fournier with Rose in this trade scenario? Cool. Cam was never going to get a place in Thibs' rotation anyways. So what would be your proposal?
Any trade where Rose goes, IQ stays
Any trade where Fournier Goes, Grimes stays
And vice versa
Cam not that important, but including him in a trade also going with both Grimes AND Fournier is kind of dumb, unless Knicks are going to be rocking Feron Hunt or IQ at backup SF all year. Or some horrific FA like Terrence Ross, who Thibs will suddenly find 28 mpg for.
I mean, if it HAD to be that Grimes goes with Fournier - and I wouldn't be that broken up over Grimes going if it's what gets the deal done and saves a pick, then keep Cam to backup SF.
Or just trade Obi instead since he only plays 15 mpg and sign Melo, and then Cam can backup SF but a little PF, when Melo inevitably sits or his old age causes some minor injuries to miss a few games here and there.
