My favorite part is how Giannis needs to learn how to work on his body

(yes I know he didn't call him out by name but it's pretty obvious)

I get pissed when something is ignorant said about science or politics. In those situation I can't help myself but get into if with idiots. Sports though, all I can say, just do not bring attention to this, thats what they are trying to do.

And yes, this was incredibly stupid, faulting Giannis for Budenholzers deep rotation. And just in general, this belief that NBA players can AND should play 39 minutes a game is so outdated and stupid. Arenas is talking who should play 39 minutes a game when his body gave up on him before he turned 30.

Put finna in the title or we're locking this.

He’s an idiot. The fact Phil Handy just sat there and agreed with it means he’s just as big an idiot. There seems to be a lot of xenophobia ingrained in the NBA circles.

After his comments about how Pippen and Rodman wouldn't be able to defend in today's league and saying they are "small", I knew Arenas was not worth listening too.

His explanation is interesting to me. He’s holding him to a Jordan standard. In that context I Think there’s some validity

Pretty obvious from his body language that he's not agreeing with it, lol. Gilbert is that loud, obnoxious friend you just kind of tune out and go along with what they're saying to save you from the hassle.

There's no validity to it. He's making gross generalizations about giannis not making improvements to his game. It's a ludicrous take. A 2 time MVP who had a dominant title run still in his prime objectively has an argument for best player in the league. Any sensible former player would respect giannis. Arenas' post career takes are flat out embarrassing.

Agreed. Gil is that idiot who's unstable enough to pull a gun on you for pointing out what an idiot he is. Best just to avoid it.

Cannot stand RJ but he knows that sh-- first hand. This is one of the things that came to mind after watching his insane diatribe.

Apparently Kawhi plays more minutes than Giannis does, up there in the true goat "levels". Despite being on permanent load management & sitting out gobs of games when he's healthy.

Guarantee Kobe would've tore his a** a new one if he was in Handy's spot.

Anyone with 2 brain cells would’ve called him out about that. Otherwise, what’s the point of having a podcast or show if you’re just going to sit there and agree with takes that are clearly out of line.

Frankly, Gilbert Arenas not saying something stupid would be more newsworthy.

It's more about the media. A lot of ex-athletes and current athletes absolutely hate the media. Some for the way they felt they were treated, criticized, or like the majority of them feel they were never given their proper credit. So with this modern era with social media and now podcasts and also the cult like following and echo chamber anyone who is semi-famous can gain from social media, they feel this is them striking back for years of tolerating the media and the media getting their comeuppance.

Also it seems Giannis gets more hate than any international player I can remember because guys don't like his play style and they feel that his entire game is predicated on his athleticism, length, and his strength. I think they see the calls that could be charging or flopping and the lack of jumpshot/post-game and a lot them obviously agreed with Harden's assessment. Ex-players even seem to have more respect for Doncic's game and Jokic's game then Giannis. I said in a post from an older thread it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of ex-players think that a lot of guys without Giannis's individual awards or team awards or less than him like T-Mac, Melo, Kyrie, VC, Harden, KG, etc are better than him. It's like they think Giannis is the Deontay Wilder of basketball lol.

I think they're also scared that if Giannis's individual accomplishments and team accomplishments continue to grow that he'll start to be ranked above some of their peers or other players they respect more. I mean he's already made the top 75 and it sounds like they begrudgingly accept that.
