Plz understand that he’s not saying that Edward’s is better than Dwayne. do you think he can be a top 3 player in the nba like freak and jokic? I can kinda see him be like a more athletic harden since he doesn’t post up at all.

Yup truly up to him how good he can become. His efficiency from his rookie year to second year was encouraging. Would love to see him lock in on the defensive end.

5-10 range. I don’t see a scenario where he’s as dominant as Doncic, Jokic, Giannis, Embiid who are all still 26 or younger in the next 5-7 years. So that’s his ceiling. He likely peaks in that 5-10 range with guys like Kawhi, PG, Butler, Davis, Durant, Harden, Tatum etc. I’m not counting LeBron because he’s about to be 39, and very likely to retire or drop off bad in 2 years.
All that being said, he’s got incredible upside, and has amazing skill+athleticism. He’s got the 90s swagger and toughness to match. Isn’t afraid to lead or take on the big moments. He’s a throwback like Jimmy Butler.

Re: Anthony edwards ceiling
Loved his improvement on the defensive end this season
First half of his rookie season was moved around a lot, from Ryan wanting him to take every shot on the second team, to sitting in the corner starting
Once he got a bit of freedom his shooting and efficiency was good in his first year
Second year he showed a lot better defence, good shooting and some passing
Honestly, dont want to put a ceiling on him. Once he starts getting foul calls every other player does (Rookies dont get calls playing physical, even if they are legit fouls) and some consistency he will enter that top 20 player discussion

The comparison that comes to mind is 6 time All-Star/5 time All-NBA Mitch Richmond. If he peaks at Mitch's level he'll have had a very good career but he certainly has the talent to be better than Mitch.

Re: Anthony edwards ceiling
I have an easy time imagining him as a top 2 guard in the league. I also have an easy time imagining him not improving a ton and always being a frustrating boom or bust kind of player.
In terms of physical tools, it doesn't get much better at his height. The explosiveness (both vertical and first step wise) are elite, and how thick he is at his height is pretty unfair. He isn't a strong decision maker at this point though. This year he was really coached up and given very specific rules on offense. He wasn't allowed to improvise much, which was a good thing because at this point, Ant is pretty wild when he's given the ball and asked to play make. He's one of those player you keep an eye on, because if there's another level mentally there, we are talking about one of the elite players in this league. There's no guarantee there's another level mentally though.
People really like him. He's gutsy, doesn't give a f, and has an enigmatic personality. I'm cautiously optimistic.

Re: Anthony edwards ceiling
I think a realistic expectation is top20-30 player.
I don’t see what’s so special, honestly. He’s a volume scoring combo guard. There are a bunch across league history and almost none of them were top 10 guys for more than a couple seasons.
Look at a guy like Bradley Beal or Donovan Mitchell. Really good players that just don’t put you over the top and aren’t tier 1 players. I’d put his ceiling in that group

He's already looking like he might become another Donovan Mitchell...only with defense too. That would be a scary, scary thing.
I really like what the Twolves have done so far. Barring injury, I think they surprise people and make it to the conference finals (at least) this coming season.

That’s really the attribute that I think will hold him back from getting to MVP level like Jokic, Doncic, Embiid, Giannis. The playmaking. His court vision and decision making is very average to me. But I do have hope for his offense and defense becoming great.

How exactly is he a combo guard. The guy has great size for a sg and is built like a tank. Between his size, elite athleticism and skillset he has the potential to be the best sg in the league.jasonxxx102 wrote:I think a realistic expectation is top20-30 player.

Like MJ but with a 3 pt shot instead of a midrange.

I just want the timberwolves to finally have a good squad for a long time, looks like its finally here. His ceiling though is ridiclous but hes so young, hard to say. I like the donovan mitchell with strong d compairson.

DWade with a 3pt shot. But needs to learn how to defend like a DWade too.
