Its not like he relies on athleticism. He himself just tweeted its not as significant as first believed and we’re still months out from camp starting.

They will determine the severity of the tear and he and his doctor will choose between a few options. He could get the meniscus trimmed which would only keep him out 4-6 weeks. He could go for the full repair which would be a recovery as long as 4 months give or take. Or if it's very minor he just opt for rest and let it heal on it's own.
But even worst case he'll be back during the season and have plenty of time to get in shape and ready for the playoffs.

I generally dislike most laker fans & celtics fans, but your post's are always very well written.
Laker fan by the way haha.

There's no reason whatsoever to skimp on a full repair and try to cheat back earlier. If a full recovery takes 4 months, thats what they should do. He needs to be as healthy as possible for the second half of the season and playoffs. Give him 4-5 months off and then another one for good measure. He's a luxury that will help in the postseason, not a necessity for seeding.

This is false on many levels. For one, Gallo is not a younger player, he's an older one who likely has 3 ish years left in his NBA career. He's not going to want to spend a lot of time rehabbing when he doesn't have a lot of time left in the league I'd imagine, and as we saw with Wiseman, sometimes meniscus repairs have pretty serious complications. The complications that you get from the short-term surgery will likely come up after Gallo has retired.
Also, he's definitely going to matter more in the regular season since the Celtics have been planning to rest Al and Rob a lot more this year, and Gallo is their primary backup. Maybe Gallo does get the repair, but I would bet him and the team ideally hope on a shorter surgery for him.
