I'm surprised because of the chatter coming out of camp. Keene was said to be more accurate and had improved his mobility and made less mistakes. Keene was said to move through his progressions while JRP tended not to.

But i'm also not surprised (haha) because he's a much better fit for Gus' system historically and has that big play potential. We'll see if he can hold on to it. If he is able to limit turnovers and throw some good deep balls this time is going to be sick to watch and very dangerous. My fear is on his off days he may cost us a game. I fear JRP will blow people out and then lose a game or two that we shouldn't have, while Keene would've won more games but closer margins.

Either way should be fun to watch. :D

A QB with the ability to run will be a lot more successful in this scheme. It’ll be interesting to watch week 1. I expect both (or all three) will play.

If JRP is as accurate as Keene, his legs will win us more games.

Very experienced squad. If JRP plays well we should dominate this year and blow people out left and right. Trying not to get my hopes up too high but it's difficult, lol.

Overall seemed like a good first game, gotta kill some of the penalties but good to see em figure it out and get rolling again in the third.

Plumlee looks he can do a nice job

Plumlee looking good. I know it's against a "bad" team but I still like what I saw.. . .

Plenty of things to clean up (mostly special teams), but a lot of encouraging stuff.

JRP is going to put up really good numbers this season.

The last time Gus has a QB this mobile was 2013 and 2014 with Nick Marshall and in two years he threw for 4508 yards and 34 TD and ran for another 1866 yards and 23 TDs.

I expect similar production from Plumlee.

Team looked really good overall. Offense struggled a bit against the zone, but I think they started to figure it out in the second half. Plumlee looked really good, he held the ball a little long on a couple plays (i.e. when he fumbled), and he threw one or two bad balls (the biggest one IMO was a completion, the one to ROK between two defenders, that would be picked most of the time). But he was electric and fun to watch.

Defense was sick though. The starters gave up negative rushing yards and only 40 passing yards. The only points SCState scored were when they got the ball in the 2 yard line and when they got it on the 15 yard line, lol. Most of their yardage came in garbage time. Only downside was they had the ball for so long in the 4th that we barely got to see Castellanos.

I know SC State was our cupcake warm up, but outside of a few issues to work through team looked great. Fans overreacting to every little thing expecting perfection is annoying but that's fandom, haha.

Gratz to my Knight friends. Us Gators also won our cupcake game this past weekend!

I watched a bit of the SCState game and your new quarterback (is he named after the actor?) seems really good! He transferred from Auburn, right? Great get for the Knights as a program.

Not sure if he was named after the actor, but he actually transferred from Ole Miss. He played QB there as a freshman, than they moved him to WR, which is why I think he decided to transfer. He also plays baseball (though had to sit out this past season because he got to campus late).
