That Punk mediascrum was so, so good. That's professional wrestling at it's finest, when you can flawlessly blur the lines of reality.

ETA - I'm sure this is all a work but goddamn, this is fun:

UPDATE – Fightful Select has now reported additional details, noting that the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega were “extremely pissed off” about Punk’s comments, and one talent that Fightful heard from claimed that the EVPs were threatening to leave the company.

The report adds that the Elite were actually scheduled to be part of the scrum, but “an adjustment was made”, and around the same time a member of the security team left the scrum area “in a hurry”. It’s unknown for sure if they’re linked, but the info came in at the same time.

I also don't know if it's been mentioned but rumors coming out of All Out are that was Malakai Black's last match in AEW. He was thanking the fans, bowing and blowing kisses and saying goodbye to the people in back.

I could see the EVP stuff being a work, but the Colt stuff we know is a sore spot for Punk. And he is nowhere near the title picture (or even in AEW really at this point- they are using him in ROH). With Hangman Page, Punk also made comments a few weeks ago and those were never answered with Page in trios stuff. I just cant see it for storyline reasons.

We know Punk runs his mouth and usually his wrestling ability and ability to draw saves him. He also pisses people off.

There's 0% chance he says any of that without clearance.

I think Tony knows the evps are pretty useless as evps. I doubt this part was a work I think there was plenty of shoot in there. You take the elite guys away and what do you have. A still fully functional wrestling promotion lol

Colt's not much of a talker. It's incredible that we let him get away with his terrible interview style for all those years.

He doesn't need to talk he can put out some tweets defending himself.

Pro Wrestling is at its best when the top stars are pulling each others hair out in the back.

Love Punk standing up for himself and offering up receipts.

Say what you want about the guy but he’s willing to fight in a world of people who are make believe.

I just have a hard time believing it's not a work. Punk and the Bucks have always been good friends.

I think they can make it a work eventually, but this is why I don’t think it was a work when it happened:

1. Story is MJF return. This took away from that story. This took away from everything that happened at the PPV to be honest.

2. Bucks and omega are in trios and Punk/Page already had a long story. It doesn’t make sense story wise to go after them now.

3. Punk has a history of this. He is always stirring the pot. It’s part of makes him such an entertaining figure.

We will see if I am completely gullible or not I guess

I also have a hard time believing that this isn't a work. The questions being asked that set Punk off were from friends, the odd angles of the security guy running just happened to be caught, Jericho loudly whispering to Khan about "some **** went down", police not being called to the arena, Ace Steel's timeline w/ the company matches up perfectly with a guy that was only brought in for one program & most importantly - Punk's prior good relationships w/ the Bucks and Omega... Seems like a lot pointing to it being a work.

However, if you listen to some of these podcast guys that aren't the biggest AEW fans, they give you the rundown of other wrestlers who have been saying that working w/ The Elite is incredibly difficult and has been since PWG. The coupled with current/former AEW guys like Andrade, FTR, Miro, Black, King, Ivelisse, Lio Rush, Joey Janela, Marko Stunt, Stu Grayson and (to a lesser extent, Cody) have hinted around not being the biggest fans of their booking and/or issues with The Elite. Bobby Fish as well, but I'm pretty sure his was an issue w/ Khan. I could see Punk just being fed up and blurring the line a little too much and offending coworkers. I don't know. It sure is fun for us fans, though. I love it.

Khans face gave it away. It was not a work. At all.

This is dividing smart wrestling fans, I'll say that.

I sometimes post on a pro wrestling centric forum, and its like 75-75 right now in a poll whether this is a work or a shoot. Not that people on message boards are automatic geniuses, but these are people who follow said thing and care about said thing enough to post.

I do think it's hilarious that the majority of people I've seen on twitter are automatically assuming Punk started the actual fight even thought Meltzer and Alvarez are both reporting that they don't know who started it. That's another thing for the work column to me, the insanely different accounts of what happened. One side said that The Elite calmly walked into Punk's room and Punk immediately just started punching while the other side says that The Elite "stormed" in and were the aggressors. I mean, there was independent security and medical personal there that were talked to, are we supposed to believe that they're taking sides in this? Seems odd.

To me this is all a work. But it's brilliant too. Look at how much buzz this has created. Like Eric Bischoff says: Controversy creates cash
