I read the article it was referencing and I think Washburn mean the "gain traction" as an idea more than anything, since it seemed like Himmelsbach shot the idea down a bit.

But I'd definitely welcome it if it happened

Washburn has great relationships with players, but isn’t nearly as tapped in as Himmelsbach.

31to6 is also right in that the dude LOVES Melo lol.

I never noticed his Melo bias before but I believe it lol

I don't think it's a 0% chance they sign Melo, the wording they've used is that they're not "in a hurry" or something like that, but I just think they want to see how Hauser does first

Hauser's getting whatever chance he might get as a 3, right? I don't think Melo -- or Gallo -- would be expected to see any minutes as a 3. Weird as it is, they're sort of Theis replacements -- with competition from Vonleh, Kornet, and maybe Kabengele & Cobocolo. I think all of those guys are competing to be the other 'backup big' alongside Grant.

Lotta Celtics’ era Jordan Crawford vibes about Melo. I’ll still be surprised if it happens though.

Are we talking about Hauser from summer league?
Come on, that dude is a 6'7ish catch and shoot NBA player at best. Maybe he can eat some minutes in the regular season and maybe he can reach Pritch's level from two years ago, but no way we can rely on any of it this season. We need an experienced, proven bench. This is the year. All in.

The cancer line is a bit cringe anyways but even more so when it’s based on nothing of substance or antiquated outdated takes. Melo has been a very good teammate by all accounts since he’s been humbled immensely and came to face with the reality he’s a role player/depth piece.

If he´d said he just wanted to win a championship we would be labelling him a ¨ring chaser¨. Sometimes, no matter what someone says, it is turned against him. Nothing wrong with a mature Melo, far from egos.

I think the team would rally around wanting to get Melo to his first finals the same way they did Horford. I think one of the biggest things we need to fight this year is complacency and thinking that we're "owed" another trip to the Finals. I thought a guy like Gallo who could preach that urgency and hunger would help and Melo would fall into the same category. Just like there is great benefit to having guys who have been there before, I think there's great benefit to respected voices who have had long careers WITHOUT that success winning-wise because they provide an example that it isn't guaranteed no matter how good you are on paper.

Really can't hurt to have this guy as a 2nd unit scorer. Celtics have a lot of defensive players. I know we make fun of him on this board quite a bit but he definitely would have helped in the finals.

Some have been clamoring for the Celtics to quickly replace Gallinari with a veteran free agent such as Carmelo Anthony, but there is no urgency. I was told they’d rather see what they have in 6-foot-8-inch second-year sharpshooter Sam Hauser, give a few more minutes to their younger players, and see how some training camp battles unfold.

If it turns out there is still a clear need, there will always be veteran free agents available, or opportunities to acquire one via trade.

Himmelsbach throws water on it again.

If Melo was saying "damn I want a ring so badly I would do anything to get one" I would agree but he pretty much said the opposite. When people tell you who they are.... believe them.

A beacon of light.

This current roster is the first one in my life that didn't have an unwatchable player on it. Please keep it that way. I've endured Marcus Morris, Dennish Schroeder, Jeff Teague, Semi Ojeleye all just int he last few years, please don't make me endure Carmelo Anthony.

I’d rather be labeled a ring chaser than a loser. Playing for the love of the game….fine…..but not wanting to play to win because it’s too stressful? No thanks. I’d rather the Celtics find a ring chaser than a guy just happy to play in front of a crowd. Imagine if he said that in the locker room of the 98 bulls? MJ probably would have punched him mid sentence.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

My dream from months ago where Melo hits a game winner over Lebron in Game 7 of the finals and then screams “anything is possible” may be more real than I thought at the time

The Carmelo Anthony buzz was a hot topic this week after the rumors started swirling about the Celtics’ interest in him last week. However, multiple league sources tell MassLive that the Celtics are not expected to have interest in bringing in the veteran for a signing ahead of training camp. That’s not to say the team is done shaping the roster ahead of the preseason but Anthony isn’t a priority at this point at names that could be brought in. Boston likes a lot of their internal replacement options from what I’ve heard and want to give those names the first crack at minutes.

Melo may be paying the price a bit for Schroeder's ball-stopping sins, and I understand that.
