If u don't want 2b here, the way things work, u don't like it, then don't b here. U have 2 stand on something. If Miami ain't standing on something, they become alot of these organizations trying 2 find their identity. This is the culture, bro -Wade

24 is in the borderline all-star territory and with Strus, Healthy Dipo, and Duncan still on the roster, it is far-fetched.
19-20 is a fair number. Dame Lillard only averages 24ppg last season while Bradley Beal only averages 23ppg. IF Herro's stats Jumps in that number, an all-star appearance is possible.

Yeah it's hard for me to see him go to 24-25 ppg. He has to learn how to ref-bait to get there. Unless Bam tricks us again, he should be taking more shots too which makes it harder for Herro

No shot Herro is an all star even if he averages 24. The East just added 3 guards that are better than him in Mitchell Murray and Kyrie coming back

I am amazed some do not see how huge a jump that 20 to 24 is. 16 to 20 is a huge jump. 20 to 24 is a bigger jump because its tougher to increase your percentage the more points you score, because fatigue becomes a bigger factor and defenses game plan more against you.

Personally, I would rather keep Dipo, Strus, and Gabe than pay Herro $30+M a year. We will lose the depth if we extend Herro. There has to be a way to trade him (S&T) for a player and picks.
Paying Herro $30M is insanity and will strap the Heat for years. He is a good player but not worth what RJ Barrett got. Dipo can score and defend and cost under $20M a year.

When a scoring guard reaches 24-25ppg its means they have a healthy ability to get to the line. We have seen many scorers IE wade without a decent 3pt shot, be able to hit those numbers easily mostly due to the free throw rate. It means that your fouled more because your the primary scorer in the team, we see when teams create scoring duos and trios their free throw rate goes down significantly because they are no longer the primary scorers surrounded by role players. it would be damn near impossible for Herro to hit those numbers with the teams current make up having, Jimmy, Bam, Dipo, Struss whom all will take shots away from him in.

So, I looked at the players who have scored 24+ ppg since 2010, there's been 130 times it's happened (of course players did it multiple times).
The lowest amount of FTA per game was by Nikola Vučević in 2021 at 2.5 but he shot nearly 21 FGA at near 48% from the field.
Everybody else shot at least 4 FTA each game. These players are Kyrie, Curry, J.Brown and D.Mitchell scored 24+ on less then 5 FTA.
119 of the 130 times players shot 5.1 FTA a game.
101 of the 130 times, players shot 6+ FTA a game.
Herro shot 3.3 FTA a game. The issue isn't going to be FTA, it's going to be FGA.
There has been 24+ ppg guys with 17 or less FGA, Towns, KD, Harden, Curry, Zion and Blake but all of them took 5.9 or more FTA per game.
What's interesting is that Butler, Lowry nor Oladipo has ever scored 24 ppg. Butler's highest was close at 23.9(he's also scored 40 points in a half, breaking MJ's Bull's record at 39), Lowry's 22.4 and Oladipo put up 23.1, all 3 have been multiple year all-stars but all 3 were very good defenders also.

This dude Jimmy has shot like 40,000 3s this summer. I have a feeling he’s going to be knock down next season

Re: Offseason thread vol 9 - RUN IT BYK
So he shot a ridiculously good 46% from 3 and still wasn’t able to hit 24 PPG? Yea he’s not getting it next year, he should see attempts and usage drop running with the starters too.
A great season from Herro next year would be to match last seasons numbers on less shot attempts with improved defense.

his scoring went up 2.4 pts on 1 less shot
try again
I already said he gets there by increased 3pt rate and a couple more fts

Yes because his efficiency sky rocketed to an unsustainable level. He’s not shooting 46% from 3 for an entire season on large volume, id be willing to bet everything I own on that. A couple more free throws would basically be doubling his rate. Not impossible but I’d like to see how many times that has happened for a player getting his attempts and usage.
Do you think his usage and attempts drop as a starter?
I’m not sure why you’re saying “try again” like you just proved something lol.

Re: Offseason thread vol 9 - RUN IT BYK
Whiteside was one of my favorite players. His rise to being one of the best centers in the league was very fun to watch. He got his money and turned into a massive head case and quit caring, it’s a shame. Can’t respect players like that.

lemme break down 24 ppg
18 fga 4.5 FTA
of the 18 fga
I want 10 2s 8 3s
gimme 49% on 2s =9.8
42% on 3s = 10.08
.87 *4.5 = 3.9
3.9+10+9.8 = 23.7
And yes I believe if he goes in as a starter he'll take on bigger responsibility than having to feel out the game when he comes in off the bench.

Yea I don’t see it happening. I don’t think he’s that efficient matching up with starters majority of his time on the court. Hopefully I’m wrong.
His shot attempts and usage need to drop if he’s starting, he needs to be off the ball more otherwise we’re not getting the most out of our 2 stars and $30M PG. Maybe if they decide to preserve Lowry and Jimmy for the playoffs but I don’t think Jimmys going to go for that
