My bad. You're right. I thought he had 32 against Serbia but he had 23. It is possible I just read the numbers in the wrong order

this debate has two opinions, naturalized players. Is it a reflextion of inclusion, globalism and anti xenophobia, or is cheap addition that breaks spirit of the international tournament?

Marius Grigonis in todays post game interview kinda mocked the idea after asked about tomorrows game against Bosnia.
- Yes, they have that one point guard, hes very bosnian, I can tell he probably grew up in bosnia. - When asked is he surprised Bosnia is such a strong play off contender - No, we know they are a good team, and when team can just hire up any foreigner, any team's entire dynamic can change.

Lithuania is one of the teams that does not have a naturalized player. Although, you could find hypocrisy in these views, because they have Ignas Brazdeikis on their team, and he was Lithuanian, but he spent most of his life in Canada and didn't even have Lithuanian passport this summer. He definitely did not grow up in Lithuania.

reporter - some Lithuanian fans had fear that France might lose on purpose, to get the 4th seed... what do you think...
FOurnier - Yeah, I understand, I understand. Teams, especially teams like Spain, Serbia in the OLympics, you know, they have done it in the past...

And Bulgaria gets its first win against Georgia. Dee Bost had 33 points and Vezenkov had 28.

Nice win for Bulgarian team on a national holiday. So a win vs Belgium and Bulgaria qualifies for the knockout stage ? LOL.

Side note: It's an EU championship, but it's like almost every team has an American in starting lineup and this game had a duel between two of them in 4th quarter to decide the game. Just a fun fact.

P.S. Apparently Bost tied a record set by Djordjevic for most 3 pts in a game.

Just make requisites for nationalized players tougher.

Larkin playing for turkey after playing and living there is one thingh

Getting a player who has never lived in the country is just ridiculous. As much as i like phillipines and their love of the sport is ridiculous they hired andray blatche to play for them that one time

Although i am a bit more forgiving of countries like philippiens who love basketball but are ultra short height wise and dont really have centers to "hire" one

Yeah, the rule with the naturalized players is a joke. McFadden has never played for any club in Georgia, neither has L. Brown in Spain, nor Tobey, etc.

Yeah, “naturalized players” are an awful idea. Thankfully, Serbia will never have one.

By the way, Jokić at halftime vs Israel with 20pts on perfect shooting, 6/6 for 2, 1/1 for 3, 5/5 fts lol

Luka driving to the rim all night, barely any calls despite being bulldozed everytime, Dragic touches German player on a 3pt shot, foul.

It depends on what one means when they say naturalized. Ignas Brazdeikis, for example, isn't a naturalized player in my opinion. Yes, he didn't grow up in Lithuania but he was born there and his parents were Lithuanians. He is a prime example of a player with dual nationality, a Lithuanian-Canadian. In my opinion, a player like Brazdeikis should be free to represent whichever of the two countries he wishes. Same goes for someone like Vezenkov who holds triple nationality (Bulgarian, Greek and Cypriot).

Ariel Filloy is an example of a player who counts as a naturalized player but I don't really view as a naturalized player. Yes, he is from Argentina but he started playing for Italian teams when he was a teen and he has spent his whole career in Italy. He should absolutely be allowed to play for the Italian NT and it would be a travesty if he couldn't play for them.

Aaron Cel is ethnically Polish but he was born in France, started his basketball career in France and he has split his professional career between France and Poland. He is another example of a dual nationality guy that I don't really view as a naturalized player.

In general, if you were born in X country or if your parents were from X country or if you moved to X country at a young age and grew up there then I see no issue with representing X country.

Now, let's talk about some players who didn't have the connections I talked about above but I have no issue with their naturalizations. The most obvious one is JR Holden. Yes, he had no connection to Russia before his professional career. But he did play for CSKA for 9 years and, imo, that counts. I have no issue with his naturalization. I also have no issue with Justin Cobbs becoming naturalized for Montenegro since he did there. And, in general, while I do not support it, I do understand why teams who are relatively small and weak naturalize players. They want to give themselves a puncher's chance and I can understand it.

What does grind my gears is when strong teams use that same tactic. The most recent example of that is Spain naturalizing Lorenzo Brown. It is the same thing with Bosnia naturalizing John Roberson with the difference being that Spain didn't need to naturalize Lorenzo Brown to have a chance. They were already one of the strong teams and they have plenty of local talent.

A good war could be Doncic vs Lamonica. I would love see this, him get refereed by Lamonica again.
