He’s been playing well there. Plus those Israeli announcers lol that kills me.

He's turned himself into a hell of a shooter

I missed a couple of earlier qualifiers where he didn't shoot well, but he's back over 40% 3PT% with that last game.

Jokic is a cheat code is all I learn from this boxscore.

20 pts, 4 assists, 3 steals for Madar on 4/6 from 3 and 4/5 from 2 is nothing to sneeze at IMO - especially when he's going against a Serbia team that many are picking to win EuroBasket.

Agree with both of you. Jokic is playing like he expects to win EuroBasket first and then an NBA title.

Up to .486 from 3 in the qualifier. Could be a small sample size though!

I watched the games.
Madar was also the best defender for Israel in the games against Serbia and the Netherlands.

Nice glad to hear it. He's definitely been an engaged, active defender when I've seen him.

Surprised none of the local media guys are doing a puff piece on his play, with the rest of the league in the pre-camp dead zone.

Madar's efficiency on this Eurobasket is totally crazy : 12.8 ppg on 58.1 FG%, 55.6 3p% - .768 ts%

And again, great defense.
I the game against Serbia, the 3 steals he had were two forced backcourt violations, and one where he managed to finish with a lay up.
All were on ball, 1 on 1 defense.

Finished the tournament with 13.4 ppg on 57.5 / 52.2 / 90 split (.755 ts%)
Would be more ppg (and more games) if the coach wasn't an idiot

So if Madar came over, could he take minutes (in Boston or Maine) from Davison? Or Thomas? )r Pritchard? Or White?

The C's have a logjam in the backcourt that needs to be addressed.

Not really something we need to worry about right now. Madar is playing overseas again for the 2022-2023 season.

What about the year after that? Well, we can cross that bridge when we come to it. That's a year from now. A lot can happen in a year. A year ago, we didn't have Brogdon, White or Davison on the team - just shows how quickly things can change.

A year from now, if there's still a logjam in the back court, then he obviously won't come over.

If he ever does make the celtics roster, it will be dependent on 2 primary factors:

1) Is he ready? (from a physical standpoint and a skills standpoint)
2) Is there a realistic chance for him to get minutes?

If the answer is yes to both questions, he'll come over and compete for a spot in training camp or sign a contract prior to training camp (he may tell the team that he will only come over if he has a guaranteed roster spot, rather than just a training camp deal, which is what happened with Nigel Hayes in 2021 and why Hayes didn't join the Celtics).

But as long as the answer is no to at least 1 of the questions, he'll remain in Europe.

Unless a trade presents itself where we can improve our team - then perhaps Madar's draft rights could be traded.

It's really that simple.

And there's no expiration on Madar's draft rights or how long we can stash him. The spurs still have the draft rights to some european guy who is in his 50's and has been retired for several years.

Is he incapable of gaining weight/adding muscle? He is still as scrawny as he was 2 years ago when the Celtics drafted him.

1) I'm no personal trainer but I'm pretty sure all humans are capable of gaining weight/adding muscle
2) this was from a couple weeks ago. I don't think he looks THAT scrawny.

3) There's plenty of skinny players in the NBA. Nikola Jovic, Chet Holmgren, Ziaire Williams, Bones Hyland (similar body type to Madar), Brandon Ingram, Kevin Durant, Aleksej Pokusevski, Tre Mann, etc. From the past you have guys like Iverson, Tony Parker, Tayshaun Prince, etc.

4) Madar is still only 21 yrs old. Players bodies are still growing and changing at that age.

5) As Smart2Nesmith pointed out earlier, it's less about his muscle and more about his athleticism/explosiveness/quickness and skill set (handle, decision making with the ball, etc.) that will determine how good of a player he can be.
