Welcome Montrezl Harrell

Post#1 » by 76ciology » Wed Sep 7, 2022 8:12 am

Very intelligent player, shown by very high volume efficient scoring and being a plus defender with decent help side shot blocking numbers.

Offensively, he’s good as a roll man. As a drop pass option. Some 1v1 against slower bigs

As a physical specimen he has 9” difference in height to wingspan ratio. 6’7” height with 7’4” wingspan (13th in league history for this metric) allowing him to be mobile and yet have the length to play SOME center minutes

Career 20ppg per 36 on 62 FG%

In comparison (2021-2022)
Harden 20ppg per 36
Tobias 17.8ppg per 36
Maxey 17.8ppg per 36

Defense around the rim
-7.7% DFG% 2019-2020
-3.1% DFG% 2020-2021
+.6 DFG% 2021-2022

.5 DBPM for 2019-2020
.7 DBPM for 2020-2021
.1 DBPM for 2021-2022

6.0 WAR for 2019-2020
5.0 WAR for 2020-2021
4.5 WAR for 2021-2022

Another guy who needs little learning curve to our guys and our heavy switch defense scheme next season.

IMO he’s a guy who’s looking to improve his value thus opting to play for DOC to revive his career for a big pay day when he is 30.

He's got that toughness, fire and intensity that the Sixers desperately needed. Soft players like Korkmaz, Thybulle, Niang, and Shake for 10-20 MPG wasn't really cutting it.

Reminds me a bit of a 6'7'' version of Shawn Kemp.

- Embiid
- Reed
- Tucker
- Harrell

I thought Bassey looked pretty good guarding him. I’m not knocking today’s signing, but I’m sorry Bassey’s not going to get the chance to prove that game wasn’t a fluke.

Wasn't that Reed? Maybe I'm 'misremembering'.

Definitely a influx of dog mentality to the roster.

You’re probably right. I must be confabulating with this early season highlight.

Reed in the rotation is what makes the Harrell acquisition so dangerous. Reed definitely in the equation. Bassey not so much.

What a great signing. He and Harden are gonna have a special connection. And he’s a legit starting center if you want to rest Embiid every once in a while.

Knowing Doc, I really don't think Reed will be in the rotation

He's going to count on Harrell a lot I'm afraid

Harrell is exactly how I think Reed should play on offense, so if he learns from the vet for the next year or so, it’ll be worth it.

This is a great addition! I'm am STOKED about this! Jailblazers mentioned an influx of "Dog Mentality" on this team and he couldn't be more right about that. Damn man, we look pretty mean with Joel, Tucker, Harrell, and Niang. Some straight thugs right there. Hopefully it rubs off on some of the others on this team. Be prepared to hear about some fights in practice. I love it! So happy we pulled this off. Backup center was a huge question mark that has finally been answered.

I agree, I think Reed still has a spot in the rotation. Joel is going to get his rest and share of missed games, so Reed will definitely see a lot of time on the floor. Playing them together will be tough unless Reed has secretly improved his three point shot over the summer. Either way though, I'm loving our depth now with the Harrell addition.

Why can’t Reed play the 4 spot to help keep Tucker fresh. He played the 4 during the summer league and did well.

Glad to see people dont have there heads up there rears here like at liberty ballers. Apparently Harrell is going to cost us in the playoffs because Doc is going to play the backup center 30 minutes a game for some crazy reason. Harrell greatly increases our chance of winning any regular season game Embiid sits. He can easily score 15-20 points something Paul Reed cannot do. And Im not saying don't play Paul Reed he should absolutely get some run when possible and in the playoffs if Harrell is really that bad on D that the Sixers are getting killed in the 10-12 minutes the back up center plays in the playoffs Doc needs to be able to adjust or he needs to be fired. Thats not a reason not to like this signing because Jokic flogged him in the bubble and Doc was too dumb to adjust. Totally different situation.

We’re in the east. The guy to fear is Giannis, not Jokic.

If we face the Bucks, Zubac will be worse on defense than Harrell.

And we have the personnel to face Jokic on meaningless regular season games and if ever the Nuggets makes the 2030 NBA Finals

Reed ,Harrell , Tucker , Tobias are type of bigs that matchup well vs Toronto,Bucks , nets and Celtics

6'7 mobile ,athletic and lengthy.
