48 last year against Argentina

Make a bet. Will he beat that today?

With 45pts, 5min to go. The bet is not that hard.

3 in Goberts face for 45, man is on a mission today, I don't think he had 2 minutes of rest in the 35 minutes played.

Probably going to fall short with missed fts.

I honestly believe that this game by Luka deserves its own thread.

Actually the question is who is getting into "pipe" of the other. BTW I even not contest the foul, but the Unsport foul. When the guy just do a normal play, that is not a good call.

The second bullet point under 37.1.1 says that excessive, hard contact caused by a player in an effort to play the ball or an opponent is an unsportsmanlike foul. My guess is that the refs ruled the contact excessive and hard because, well, it was an elbow to the head. Unintentional or not, basketball play or not, if it's deemed to be excessive, hard contact then they have to call an unsportsmanlike.

And given the amount of blood that was caused by this contact, I am inclined to agree with them.

Sincerly on this play there is not any excessive or hard contact. Simply Luka is not trying to grab the ball but getting into Poirier's feet ...

BTW Luka is the best player in my opinion, but refs arz really on this Eurobasket, for everybody, except Greece and Slovenia maybe :)
I explain my position bzcause Giannis and Luka use a lot their hand or even elbow. As a sample, look crazy Giannis' alley oop versus Croatia: Giannis use his both hands to push his defender.

For this game versus Slovenia, seen Fall's offensive foul whereas his arm is grabbed, Poirier's U foul, Gobert's T foul whereas Blazic made a real goul on his arm, Doncic showing his fisr to ref without referees calling his second T foul (on this point, what he does can't be tolerated. Then to hard to explain children they can't be agressive toward refs)... Enough is enough. But refs are so terrible that I am sure that you will show me other samples. And here Dragic with his high kick should be out!!
LA 2028 (Starters):
Francisco - Strazel - Malédon - Traoré ?
Coulibaly - Fournier
Risacher - Cordinier
Yabusele- Hoard - Essengue/Penda?
Wembanyama - Lessort - Raynaud / Beringer /Sarr?

If you watch the reply, Luka could have faked that he got hit hard by Gobert's elbow. Would have been unsportsman foul on Rudy for sure given the Dragic to the nuts from before.

To be fair to all those people in that draft discussion, Doncic is really hard to explain, he doesn't fit any stereotype. He is a guard who is routinely the slowest player on the floor, and it doesn't even matter. He drives to the basket and he goes slower instead of faster with every step. He jumps backwards, he passes to his blind spots, he takes circus shots in the most crucial moments, and the harder the game gets the better he plays. He really is one of a kind.

1st two years Luka was taking players of the dribble with quickness, he changed his game when he got thicker.

I definitely agree that the refs have not been good in this tournament so far. There have indeed been some major and glaring mistakes that have happened like the 22 seconds that elapsed in the Turkey-Georgia game and the 1 FT that wasn't awarded to Lithuania against Germany.

And I also fully agree that superstars get favorable calls. That has always happened. It shouldn't happen, in my opinion, but, sadly, it does.

All that said, the rules I mentioned in my previous post don't change. If the refs deem that a contact is excessive and hard then they can call it an unsportsmanlike. It's very straightforward.

Luka trying to one up Gianni for that record. Crazy. What a tournament. I can't even imagine the knockout stage.
