Coming into a situation where you don't really want to touch things too much I'm sure is hard because you aren't the one who puts a stamp on the franchise. But Utah was good enough he couldn't just go in there and change everything. Now he's going to get a chance to really make Utah his team. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Mitchell traded for a massive package from Miami, New York, or even Houston (who has a load of picks from the Nets and might want to jumpstart their rebuild).

Mitchell is 25. I think they’d keep him unless he wants out.

Which he totally might.

Sounds like the full Ainge rebuild is about to go down. He's getting in on the godfather picks offer before a team blows their stash on Durant.

Jazz might also go full on tank for V Dub next year who's worth as much if not more than Mitchell.

It would be awesome if the Pistons were able to sign Melo to come in and mentor Bey and Livers to play the stretch 4 position. He’s almost like this team’s holy grail after Dumars failed to draft him in 2003 and was unable to trade for him in 2008. It would be like Forrest finally landing Jenny after she got AIDS and was on her way out.

You do realize he's 38 years old, right? Not to mention there's not a lot of mentoring that needs to go into playing a stretch 4. It's basically "do all the normal forward s**t and be able to hit a 3 at a decent rate." And quite frankly I personally don't view Melo as a guy I'd necessarily want mentoring my kids.

The Gump reference was actually funny, but why would we bring him in? He was a really good scorer who is now basically exclusively a 4. Good, but not great, 3 point range. And it’s not like he’s going to help the young guys learn what it takes to be successful. Unless you’re jealous of teams consistently getting knocked out in the first round.

Pistons signed Micah Potter to an Exhibit 10 contract today.

This comes a day after the Motor City Cruise traded for Potter. The Cruise traded their returning player rights to Cheick Diallo & their 1st round pick in 2023 to Sioux Falls for their 2nd round pick in 2023 & Potter's returning player rights.

We signed Potter to a 10-Day contract last December and played him in 3 games. He averaged 17.2 & 9.8 with Sioux Falls last season, with shooting averages of .539/.445/.731. He played on the Knicks' summer league squad this summer.

MCC traded Cassius Winston to Rio to get a FRP back.

Phew. I couldn't sleep giving up a FRP for Potter.

I saw our very own Kemba Walker will be remaining a Piston due to the fact no team is interested in him. He's only willing to give up money if his next contract is secure. Makes sense. Likely he will have a new team.

But it just got to be a realistic possibility that he's actually playing for the Pistons.

I doubt it. I think the two scenarios are that he does find a new team and we buy him out minus the vet min money, or he doesn't find a new team and we just waive him altogether when we need to get the roster down to 15 before the season starts.

Count me among the group that thinks this just kills any chance of getting a discount on the money we pay him. But in all honesty Detroit got paid $6 million to absorb his contract, I think we can pay $3 million of our own so he can join the Lakers on a minimum

If you think about it, depending on how bad walker wants to compete for a title, the Pistons hold all the cards here. Take a discount, or sit on the bench of a rebuilding team, and no chance of signing somewhere else.
