Damn!!!!!!!!!!!!! You got to love the audacity. However, a couple years ago LeBron and Brow won it all.

Hard to count a title in 19/20 as a real title. The shutdown followed by the bubble really messed with the NBA. In a normal season the finales would have been Bucks vs Clippers.

We disagree. Lakers were the best team.

Say we won it all that year, would you still put an asterisk? Or would you still be celebrating?

I said then (not sure if I was here yet, may have been on CanisHoopus or rubechat,) the NBA should not resume the season because any team would get an asterisk. Once the shutdown happened that was the end of the season. Everything after was just a bonus tournament. I honestly don’t care who won it, it just wasn’t the normal NBA playoffs.

What's a normal NBA playoffs. When Toronto won after the entire Warriors team went down to injuries was that a normal playoffs? Should there be an asterisk on that one?

Injuries happen. 3 months plus off with different states having different laws about practice is not normal. Empty arenas were not part of the season before the bubble. Home court advantage was a thing before the bubble. 20/21 may have been different from most seasons, but at least it was consistent from the beginning to the end. You know as well as I do how different the bubble was.

Most of you are going to hate Pat Bev's guts again as soon as we play LA and he gets in KAT's or Ant's face and starts trolling them them publically. He is going to do what he does so remember that when it happens to us lol.
When luck shuts the door skill comes in through the window.

Definitely true. But Pat Bev is going to get trolled hard next year too about his championship celebration from the play in game.
You can see how his act wears thin quickly. Can't deny he plays his heart out though.
Curious to see how he interacts with LeBron, who is hypersensitive and has a long history of getting management to axe teammates he doesn't like.

1. Long break. Impossible to stay in game shape or keep any momentum going.
2. No home games/road games.
3. No fans in the stands. Playing in an empty gym, games looked and felt more like summer league than NBA games.
Basically completely missing significant competetive pressures that separate the wheat from the chaff under the bright lights.

Personally I put an asterisk next to any super team winning, but I'm old school.

Interesting to read that Rosas handled (and by that I mean completely botched) the Mitchell trade negotiations with Utah.
Probably why we heard garbage like they weren't sure they wanted to include mediocre players like Quentin Grimes or RJ Barrett leaked in the media.

Maybe. But at the same time I think there is quite a bit of love there. I think Bev might pull his **** but KAT and Ant will probably be more amused than offended.

Injuries happen, but never like that in an NBA finals. That one was every bit as worthy of an asterisk as the bubble year. More so to me.

Yep. That's why we prefer him being on our team.
He left on good terms. I don't think he's going to get quite as nasty with us as he would with the Clippers.

(Skip this post if you want to avoid my mini-rant)

Speaking of PatBev, I was listening to the Athletic’s podcast about him going to the Lakers, and they said he “made the best out of ending up in Minnesota.”

I am really getting frustrated by this constant narrative by national media about how going to Minnesota is like being sent to a gulag in Siberia. Beverley asked for a trade to Minnesota where he’s have more opportunity, and Memphis obliged him. I listened to his interview on Wolves Weekly, and he had nothing but great things to say about Minnesota, like how anxious as a midwesterner he was to get back from a NY trip to get back to MIN. He stepped up when we faltered early in the season, and helped get each player to specify what his role was to the team. He didn’t have to do that. He liked playing for Finch that allowed him to expand his game (and he was pretty good as a ball handler in the pick and roll), after so many seasons in LAC and HOU where he was expected to stand outside and shoot three’s. He set a personal goal to get the Wolves to the playoffs, and I believe his hard work and leadership was critical for that to happen. And later, after he’d been traded, he still had kind words for Minnesota, how we had treated him fairly and given him that $13 mil extension.

Anyway, Beverley never felt like he was sentenced to the gulag of Minnesota. I remember in ESPN’s first interview with Anthony Edwards, their opening question was about buying a heavy coat! That’s what they think MIN is. I hope that more playoff success this year can start to turn around decades of disrespect that Minnesota gets from the national media.

8 out of 15 wolves (9 out of 17 if you count two ways,) are still with the team this year. When PB comes to TC he will get a standing O. There will be handshakes and hugs, and PB might even jump up on the announcers table for old time sake. There is a lot of love in Minnesota for PB, and I believe a lot of love in PB for Minnesota.

My brother sent me this, thought I would share it here.

Edit: so it is a jpeg from instagram. Look up “This is Pat Bev’s team now” by Trippydubstudios, for something truly hilarious.

Considering what Jarrett Culver’s potential was when he was drafted, it surprises me that the best he could do was a two-way contract today. That’s a complete collapse.

Jake Layman just signed a camp contract with the Celtics.

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
