Lithuania just does not have a guard capable of controlling games at the end. After Jasikevicius and Kalnietis there is just nobody emerging for years.

Any NBA refs watching this: "Wait, you can call an illegal screen in the last 20 seconds of a close game?".

I didn't want Embiid to play for us in the first place, but seeing Lithuania losing to Brown who can't even make a whole Spanish sentence, guess mercenaries are the way to go in Europe these days. At least Embiid has ties to France unlike most of these players..

Lorenzo Brown looks like Spanoulis out there. Just looks so comfortable and essentially one step ahead of everybody mentally.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

Iggy Brazdeikas of all people has been carrying Lithuania late in the 4th and the OT.

Just sad to see the Lithuanians go out this way.

How is this a flagrant foul even after review?

Not surprised seeing how they lost all close games in the group despite having leads in 4th quarters. As I said until they have a point guard who can control the game at the end they won't ever win medals again.

I can't believe it.
I'll take it, but I can't believe it.
And I need to find out where to buy an Alberto Díaz poster.

In FIBA basketball the defender always has to TRY to go for the ball. You can't simply grab players to stop a fastbreak or stop the clock. That will always be a flagrant.

I can't believe we won this game. Lithuania choked hard. Also, kudos to our team, they never quit.

Well, Valanciunas was kind of unplayable today and Sabonis has excellent stats but couldn't impact the game at all once things got intense.

modern basketball. You dont have killer guard, you as good as nothing. Valanciunas and SAbonis, star centers, still less impact than Lorenzo Brown will have.

Garuba sure would have less offensive rrebounds, if Valanciunas was there. I get that Brown would have put him in pick and roll, but not like not having JV was any better. They were just lucky to grab that rebound when Willy missed second rebound, cause man, they been killed on the glass.

Yup, all 4 games LT lost at the end because of game controlling players like Doncic, Fournier, Wagner and now Brown. Where is new Jasikevicius?

So **** proud of those mfckrs
What a winning culture we have since 2003 or so we don't have the best roster but still there are high level players in the domestic league better than most of the rosters in the Eurobasket. Lorenzo Brown like a good USA player that have the swag in the tough moments. Rudy and Diaz amazing plays in the most tough moments Rudy is a **** legend the guy with almost 40 a lot of injuries and still leave there all his body.
Garuba is a **** monster in some things he only need a right mentality and confidence like in the second half but the guy is a born winner and always has been an special prospect only 20 years and dominate Sabonis and Valanciunas like that the guy could be the perfect modern center. Houston better take care of him and make him grow up

His Wiki page doesn't say about his connections to Croatia. I think that those connections don't exist.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaleen_Smith
My understanding is that after Finland eliminated Croatia from the World Cup qualifiers and Croatia realized how weak their backcourt is they panicked and paid this guy to play for Croatia. The dates align pretty well.
"In July 2022, the Croatian Basketball Federation expressed their interest to naturalize Smith,"
No connection other then being a merc for a Croatian passport. There was a quote from him taken by reporters that goes something like this: " I accepted Croatia's call even though I didn't even know where it is" ( not sure if true, but still fun

Edit: there is an interview with him on youtube where he gives that statement
