Argentina beat USA in Americup semifinal
So, how many people didnt even know this was going on? I have no idea why AMericans do not care for their continental championship at all, but it is what is. As Euro, Eurobasket consumed my life, and I feel like dying after loss that just happened an hour ago. In AMerica tho, seems like no one cared.
Argentina cared, they assembled best players and are in great position to call themselves Champions of Americas.

Great, who cares. The Olympics are the only thing that matters in International Basketball.

Re: Argentina beat USA in Americup semifinal
America only sent G League players to the tournament. Even Canada doesnt have NBA guys on the team, apart from Banton.
That said, I think the US would sent a better team over, if the competition was actually good, for example if Argentina still had the players it had years ago, then playing against those kind of guys would be a great experience for the US select team or a young group of guys. But honestly speaking if you add Joe Johnson and Isaiah Thomas to that US team, they would probably win the tournament. So what's the point of sending NBA guys...

So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

I think this sentiment only shared by AMericans and maybe Canadians. Seem like the rest of the world, that small part that actually care about his niche sport, care about all these tournaments very much so. If Americans suddenly decide they dont care for OLympics either, does that mean it doesn't matter as well? I dont know man, to me this is what is all about, club seasons like NBA is just a side dish.

Who did USA even send? The US hasnt even participated in like half of these Americas tournaments probably with the idea of giving these other teams a chance since the US never sweats qualifying

The AmeriCup team includes Zylan Cheatham, Gary Clark Jr., Norris Cole, Will Davis II, Anthony Lamb, Frank Mason III, Patrick McCaw, Jodie Meeks, Jeremy Pargo, Elijah Pemberton, Craig Sword and Stephen Zimmerman.

This is not true, because even when Manu and Scola and Sanches were playing, USA was still sending whoever team, if sending team at all. Yes, often they didnt even participate in this tournament, because before FIBA windows, these tournaments decided who goes to WC and Olympics, and when USA already had clinced Olympics or WC before hand, they DIDNT EVEN PLAY at all.
That is why one year, maybe 2008 I think, Argentina actually was NUMBER 1 FIBA basketball world rankings, because they had all these points from major tournaments, but they still had points from Americup, tournaments USA had no points from, cause they didnt even play. They simly saw it as aqualifying tournament, even though it is official championship of two major continents.
Argentina had the same team they had when they won World cup silver, competition is fine, Americans simply do not care for some reason.

The thing is, when it comes to basketball, the sentiment being shared by Americans is what matters. Not that there's some super prestigious international tournament in hockey, but if there were, the one the Canadians care about would be the one that matters.
This isn't soccer where a handful of countries can lay claim to the best team in the world. In basketball, it's clearly the US. In hockey, it's clearly Canada.

America didn’t even send their Z team. Americans don’t care about these tournaments and if they sent even g league all stars they would wipe the rest of the field easily

thats fair, I just understand WHY they don't care so much. Don't you guys love to show how much better you are than everyone else, not sarcastic, I mean its a good feeling. You have that opportunity in basketball and you aren't even taking advantage of it. Its a cultural thing, I just dont understand why culture develop that way, NBA and NCAA really repressed FIBA big time in this country, its crazy.
P.S. ANd yeah, they did send G league all stars basically, if you think G league all stars would whoop ass of full strenght Argentina, well, then watch this game and learn something about G league basketball

I know nothing about G League basketball, care nothing about G League basketball, and don't have enough of an opinion about G League basketball to believe they would beat anyone.

Its like running the score up on a child, Team USA is expected to do that at the WC or Olympics let alone these off year tournaments. I imagine a big part of the reason they don't send a better team is because they want NBA players to make multiyear commitments to WC/Olympics.

Clearly you don’t know any players in the g league if you think this team was g league all stars.
Even still America doesn’t care or send good players because they have nothing to prove.
