This one is on the coaching staff. Team was undisciplined with 12 penalties and Kyle didn’t take advantage when they rain let up

It hurr but it was still early and the 49ers got a turnover. The offense went too long without scoring.

Yeah the offense had very good field position for the majority of the 1st half, but they couldn't pout points on the board

I've come to the realization that the 49ers defense is over-rated and has been for the last handful of seasons.

They have the talent and ability to dominate and be elite, and they do/are at times. Yet they consistently fold late in games, are quite unclutch, routinely give up key 3rd down conversions (many times on 3rd and long), and FAR too frequently commit game altering penalties that extend drives. They also struggle to create turnovers. More simply put, the defense are not closers.

This isn't an over-reaction to this game today. We have seen the defense do these things for several years now.

Hopefully the defense starts to reverse these tendencies, but for now its time for me to call it as I see it.

Both sides contributed to the loss.

With the conditions as they were it wasn't going to be a high-scoring game and the offense was up 2 scores in the 2nd half so they just needed the defense to close the game which they could've/should've but all those penalties added up and cost them dearly. It's not that the Bears offense played great it's just if you keep giving up free 1st downs and chunk yardage with penalties teams are going to eventually make you pay if you keep giving them chances.

Offensively they could've been more aggressive and they just played not to lose until the very end when they were down and by that point it with the rain pouring down it was going to be difficult to mount a comeback.
