Eh it's knock out games, anything can happen. In my book Serbia is still the best team and if this was best of 5 or even 3 they would win it all. Sissu is not gonna shoot 6/9 threes again.

Greece got some whistle and a W against the Czechs, but being a smart and experienced team they totally figured out and exposed our biggest weakness, that we can't really shoot at all. They just left everybody open and only guarded the paint and Dorsey, Germany will probably do the same tomorrow. Thankfully Giannis is just too much for most of those teams so anything is possible.

Probably... but Spissu is a 52.9% 3p shooter in the last Euroleague so you have to guard him closer or he'll make most of them!

Serbia maybe the best team but has not learn much from last year Olympic Qualifying Round against Italy...

Hi guys
i want to say i have been enjoying Eurobasket more than ever thanks to this thread, getting info about all Euro League players, history of the NTs. As NBA fan, a Swede whose national team never make Eurobasket, usually i watch Olympics basketball, Fiba World Cup. This NBA summer/basketball summer was so long, boring until Eurobasket.

I havent seen games in every group because of the Eurobasket streaming here focusing on the teams with bigger NBA stars Greece/Slovenia/France/Finland/Germany/Lithuania. I'm enjoying seeing teams with great/good NBA players struggling with limited role players or the teams built well around their best player. Croatia was weird because how they kept losing with quality NBA player like Bogdanovic, several decent players I knew from NBA, played like they were from a lesser team, not good enough to be in Eurobasket.
My new favourite team is Lithuania, I loved the way they played, was annoyed they lost to Germany, France etc despite good offensive game, good team play. I liked their players that i didn't know. Even in NBA I prefer strong team defence, I really enjoy the Fiba pace, rules in the paint, making difficult to score inside.

P.S Serbia vs Italy result chocked me, wanted to see more of Jokic in the knockouts but understandable, they haven't impressed everytime I watch Fiba competition since 2017....

On two attempts per game. That said, he has been good from three his whole career and Serbia was leaving him wide open. Also, putting Micic on him was a mistake cause he can't defend anyone.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

Mine too. I love their brand of basketball, they never stop moving ball and bodies. I felt that Valanciunas (who is a great player) doesn't fit their playing style. You can see the team wants to run and shoot all the time but when Val is in they're trying to slow down to get him involved and that kinda ruins their natural run and gun pace. Sabonis isn't a perfect fit either but at least he is smaller, more mobile, and never stops moving. In any case I always enjoy watching them just for the passion and playing style.

:D

I believe it was more about avoiding Slovenia in 1/4, who has beaten them 2x in the summer. You will play against good team in semis no matter what.

Can't wait for the games tomorrow. Greece against Germany is gonna be a good one, really hoping for an electrifying energy in the arena. Really gonna be interesting what strategy Germany will try in order to control Giannis. We mightly struggled with Valenciunas but Giannis is a different tier. And hopefully Dennis finds his three ball again (or at least has it falling for that one game) so Giannis cannot pack the paint as much.

These games are celebration of basketball, a feast for the (fans) eyes.
I pity the fools who don't warch them! (Just a joke/Mr T reference, don't take it seriously).

Could this Euro means that a rejuvenation of European basketball is on its way? This is probably unlikely, but not impossible
I sense that many Europeans who didn't watch much basketball until now, love Giannis, Jokic, Luka, Franz Wagner, Meli, etc.

Germany, Italy and France (the richest countries) are the key. If the people there are starting to care about European basketball, maybe there is hope.
In this regard, a German W tomorrow could be great news. On the other hand, Giannis gets love from European fans, therefore, a Greek W could be also great news, because many neutral fans watch this Eurobasket rooting for Giannis.

Of course i want Greece to win and go all the way for the gold. As a European basketball fan, i am just expressing some thoughts.

Lauri Markkanen and Finland's great wins are also contributing to the cause, i hope.
(Cause= European basketball rejuvenation).
Maybe Finland and Finland's neighbors (Scandinavians) are starting to love basketball, too.

Current odds situation for tomorrows matches, on various betting sites:

Seems Spain and Germany are the slight favourites (although there are some sites which see Finland and respectively Greece as the small favourites in their matches). Should be two very exiting and close matches to watch! :)
There are three kinds of people: Those who can count, and those who can't.

Actually I was just preparing to watch Serbia vs Italy in the morning, went to my sport streaming app but happened to spoil myself with the final score...
I thought i can finally watch a game with Italy but instead i watched Greece vs Czechs. The Swedish sport channel/streaming that show Eurobasket havent giving me a chance to watch Italy before the knockout round. Poland/Italy/Finland I want to see more, barely seen them play. :)

They now spoil Football for me, and I dont even have twitter or really follow Football news. It is asinine provider and more asinine facebook algorythm. I once commented on some Premier league add, so now they cant stop showing me these freaking stories, also I suscribed for new Viasat website just to watch Premier league and Champions league, and you can watch replays, but these idiots spoil the game with a thumbnail. Like I tune to watch Man city game, but their title picture is Hallaand obviously celebrating the goal. Like what idiots do that?

Awesome article about Doncics progress and his chances of winning Eurobasket with a country that has just over 2 million people (+Mike Tobey).

Damn, I love Giannis's reaction here. I am sure he knows who Pozzecco is but still, to just take this hug with such a smile and answer back happily and remain cool as you like. Great stuff

Poland did okay this year.

I'm sitting here wondering why I've never seen that guy play with so much passion in the NBA.

because in the NBA they just tell him to stand outside the 3pt line and jack up a lot of threes which is a waste of his skills
