The only thing preventing a rookie is usually lack of confidence and I do NOT see that. His body is NBA-ready. He will have the ball and the green light. I wouldn't bet on it happening this year, but I think he's far and away the likeliest, even as a rookie.

It would be awesome if Paolo made the all star team. It’s just highly unlikely. Who was the last rookie to make it? Blake Griffin(red shirt). Before that Yao, Duncan and Shaq. Lebron didn’t even make it as a rookie.

Guards will be crowded with Mitchell and Murray traded east. Forward is tough with Durant coming back, Giannis, Butler, Middleton, Tatum. Unless some crazy injuries happen, center spot is the weakest.
Embiid is the only lock. Adebayo is the second favourite but Miami biggest stars are aging, one injury to Butler or Lowry and they could slide, especially after they lost Tucker and are very thin at the forward position.
Jarrett Allen and WCJ are very similar, but Carter is younger and more versatile offensively. Last year his improvement was hidden by our tanking lineup with Bamba and Anthony.
Second contender is Wagner. He is plaing great in euro basket, showing improvement in self creation. He is already used to nba unlike Banchero and also Paolo showed he makes plays for his teammates.
Carter has chance to be all star next year and Wagner propably year from now. Banchero is a wild card.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

Y’all got some big expectations for Banchero. I’m just hoping he remains healthy throughout his rookie season. I am expecting him to struggle, how are some of you expecting an all star year?

I’m thinking it’s going to take some time for him to adjust to the schemes, the speed, and the defense of the NBA. I do hope your version of Banchero works out though.

I expect Orlando to be a lot better this coming season, in terms of results and ratings.

The increased attention that brings will be good for the profiles of the players, but i don't see any possibility whatsoever that Paolo will be an All Star Year 1. It almost never happens and Paolo has massive competition at PF even if he does tear it up.

The chances are v remote of any Magic player getting in this year. I don't see any realistic candidates, which is fine by the way. We're not at that juncture yet and even if Orlando does become a potent playoff team, i imagine it'll be a "sum of the parts" type deal. Unless of course we go big for a star in off-season.

there hasn't been allstar rookie since Ming ( i don't count Blake, he had year zero ).

And Yao Ming doesn't really count because he was always an Allstar given an unequal fan vote from China compared to America. (And his existence inflated the vote totals for Steve Francis and Tracy McGrady year in and out).

The last "real" rookie AllStar was Tim Duncan in 1997-98.

And-1

Banchero could very well be a top-10 player in total turnovers and could lead the league in TOs/assists.
I expect a huge number of bone-head plays. Being an NBA rookie is hard. And being a 30 mpg player in that role is almost unfair.

Paolo, easily.

Franz will imo be a player that can be all-star material but won't be as sexy as other picks.

As for when, I don't know. 2-3 years.
