As a Polish guy... this is shocking.
Honestly, it will be a story for the ages if Luka and Dragic bring SLO back. This is a huge deficit. Anything can happen, but right now things are not in their favor at all. Of course they are two elite scoring talents, so I'm not writing them off, but it's looking bad.
I've been impressed with Poland's last few years of international play. They had a really surprising 2019 run, and honestly looked like a legit team amongst the best. Looked admiral against USA and Spain. Then just couldn't qualify for Olympics, and seemed to be sliding. Cool to see them competitive again.
Of course this game is an outlier. All of Poland's wins have been against bad teams.

Poland is a weak team. I mean not weak but from the second of third level in Europe. But Slovenia without Luka is even worst they wouldn't be in any big competition with that team.

Im speechless...
Slovenia may win EuroBasket, who knows, maybe Poland collapses still. But they are not any actual favorite, if you objectively look at their roster. It's just a lot of people thinking, "oh, they have Doncic" so they are favorites. Outside of Doncic, their team is quite weak.
Serbia and Greece rosters are significantly stronger, and that's putting it mildly.

This is what I like the most about European basketball. It is actually basketball, not just a fake artificial player marketing product like the NBA has become. I wish the NBA was more like this.
The NBA is so fake these days, that it's pathetic. But look at so many comments from NBA only fans in these forums. 99% of them claim FIBA is fake, and the NBA is the only "real" competition. It's something like borderline cult worship, where all you can see as your point of view is simple NBA marketing gimmicks and slogans, and even if you watch a real sports competition (EuroBasket) and not a fake flying circus entertainment show (NBA), you actually think, the fake one os the real one.

Looks like Slovenia finally got their act together. 11-2 run to start the 3rd. Should be able to finish Poland off and win by double digits.

Man, Poland had great control of this game. Gave it away with 4 bad "Steph Curry" shots.
Luka's a BB god, and you in some ways had to be prepared for letting him heat up, but Poland's offense went the wrong direction.

I just still can't get my head wrapped around the Dragics naming their sons Goran and Zoran. Does that have some significance in Slovenian?

Amazing comeback by Slovenia, but that said, Goran is washed, man proved in 2017 that his peak was at euro great level, but man is just not good anymore.

Complete collapse by Poland, chucking 3's, blowing layups and free throws. Was expecting Slovenia to make it close by the end of the game but it took them only one quarter.

De Colo was once a great player, but he is miles and miles past his prime. He's barely even good enough to play in EuroLeague now.
i'll frame that post and ship to you whenever you watch ASVEL games this yr ! guess you'be be saying the same words abt CP last yrs ...

Classic southern Slavic names. Common in Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia etc. Goran ( roughly translated in english would be man from mountain or highlander) while Zoran ( comes from the word zora, which means dawn in slavic languages). Sry, for a small off topic

Nah, completely different names for us Slovenians. It may sound all the same to the non native speaker but in reality it's not. For us it's the same as example Sadie and Katie or Chloe and Zoe for you.
