Poland in the semis looked terrible for the tournament in the 3rd. A walkover for France if they don't play like Slovenia for whatever reason.

These FIBA refs don't baby the star players like they do in the NBA. He kept winning and flopping, and they sent him off, just like they should do. It's another reason why FIBA is so far better than the NBA, where the refs would have started calling the game just to protect Luka.

nba Basketball relies too much on individual skill by design. it is no surprise that they struggle with fiba rules.Backcountry wrote:schnakenpopanz wrote:nba is a joke.

What a bad take. That's like saying that European Football leagues are a joke because Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have never won a World Cup. Sheesh.
but no matter what Slovenia, Serbia and partially Greece loosing at the same time shows you how fraudulent the game at times is.
oh well the refs at fiba are a bigger joke than their counterparts in the nba

He's been a solid player in EuroLeague, nothing more than that really. It's amazing how these FIBA tournaments can cloud the perception of NBA fans.
I do like him quite a bit as a player, but I've seen him enough in EuroLeague to know, that he's no star in European level.

Some good players miss something, they are not great shooters or they don't have great vision etc
Doncic has everything and his problem is he cannot work on his conditioning

Yeah, these anti NBA takes really need to go. When I was 15, hypocritical and insecure Euroleague fan, I was making same kind of comment, people just need to grow up. Yeah, you can dislike NBA for making offense too easy nowadays, but I think most NBA players and NBA stars in this tournament proved very well they can dominate non NBA games no problem. Giannis, Luka and Jokic were great, they showed dominance Eurobasket probably never seen, but this is why these tournaments are exiting, anything can happen.
Giannis especially was revelation. I was one of those idiots who loudly wondered was Giannis mostly manufactured NBA product, look at him now and what coaching and stuff like that can do, it was an epiphany.

The guy who kept Poland afloat when Slovenia made the comeback did not look Polish. Another random American signed?

And that's awesome. That's how any team can win it, which makes the tournaments exciting.
It's awesome for us the fans but it doesn't mean as much in the end because it's based a lot in luck and randomness.
In the end of the NBA season you have a clear image of who is the best player of the regular season, who is the best player in the league and which team was the best team of the year.
In the end of the eurobasket you still have no idea. Random things in 4 important random games against random teams.
But there is no time for series in the Summer. We are lucky we even have that much anyway.
But why would anyone need a clear image? NBA fans are obsessed with stats, but that ain't that exciting at all.
FIBA system gives us national and team heroes, insane last second wins in knockout phases, amazing upsets and so much more great stuff to be remembered for decades.
This Eurobasket has been great so far, Q4 games were nuts and I hope the semis will be played with the same intensity.

Dude seriously.......
https://www.dictionary.com/browse/dominate
verb (used with object), dom·i·nat·ed, dom·i·nat·ing.
to rule over; govern; control.
to tower above; overlook; overshadow:
A tall pine dominated the landscape.
to predominate, permeate, or characterize.
I know English isn't your first language, but this NBA only fan marketing gimmick nonsense talking point trolling is beneath the dignity of anyone that claims to be a EuroLeague fan. By the very meaning and definition of the words, they most certainly did NOT dominate jack squat.
It's making up fake and untrue meanings and definitions for words, and while an NBA only fan has the excuse of not knowing any better and not seeing actual games outside of the NBA, a fan that watches major FIBA tournaments and EuroLeague has no excuse for such ridiculous trolling.

But they don't struggle Jokic, Giannis, Doncic, Markannen, Wagner etc have been great and were head and shoulders above their competition
from the top 15 scorers, at least 10 play in the nba (and a couple more have played there)

Fiba referees are an aberration btw.
Slovenia is just a guy who for me the Nba and his stupid things about stats and make all a one player game is making him be worst as the way he plays, and the way he live there is much less healthy than in Europe for sure even with all that he is the player that can lead better alone a team to win championships in Fiba. And just that, because Slovenia has been a dream but the reality is what it is they don't have anything to be a great structure, Goran was the other one same as other players and the time pass sadly and this is a team sport. Anyways they played versus Poland that make them look even worst there's no excuses.

I am guilty of doubting Giannis too. I will take mea culpa on this one.

These games are exciting because it is country against country, and then playoff single-elimination games. But not many countries have full squads of top-notch players. Really, only the USA can regularly trot out a full roster of all-stars. But that's also one of the things that makes it exciting: you never know who is going to have "one of those games" and suddenly become an overnight hero.
'Cos it's easier to try
Than to prove it can't be done

These FIBA tournaments are so luck based it's ridiculous that there are posters who take these results seriously in evaluating player legacies. It's a crapshoot who wins a Bo1 tournament unless a team is head and shoulders above the rest in talent level and even then you never know what can happen in 1 game. Is it entertaining? Yes and so is March Madness and pulling the lever on a slot machine.
I watch my Kings beat the best teams in the NBA every year...it happens and basketball is getting even more volatile with the focus on the 3pt shot.
